It’s wild that people be like “Alex dipped out, he ain’t about Aurora anymore.” Like dead ass, I was blackballed by the powers that be and forced out. Went to a whole other city and bossed up heavy. Like Pet Weber said “Hate me or love me, you watched, that’s all you could do.”

Playing 4 dimensional chess when folks are barely playing checkers isn’t even fair. Oh well 🤷🏾‍♂️

Truthfully, I’ve never wanted to give up more than now, but the truth is that I can’t, because if I do there are no other options for my community. If I fail, we fail and I can’t do that to them.

Officially accepted into this leadership academy and officially accepted as a new incoming board member for one of the biggest cannabis companies in the state. 😤 #imjustwarmingup

Didn’t make it to the final round but I ranked 17 out if 112 people of submitted applications. That includes lawyers, community organizers and well known people. Never thought I’d be competing with people on that level. All good though. I got 3 more years and can try again.

If selected I hope I do this City proud, and learn from my past failures. It’s crazy, but I think I got a shot.

I never really looked at myself as a leader, I just put my head down and did the work, but I read a few of the letters of recommendation that the homies sent in support of me and man. I never knew people really rocked with me the way they do. It was hard to shed a tear🥲.

It’s still crazy to think that when I was applying for a dispensary license, I had a very well known businessman from Aurora offer me 4 million dollars to let him take over my application, and I got blackballed because I told him no lol.

Cutting off old homies is always tough, but you gotta do what’s best for you and yours. Especially when they start detracting from your life and no longer adding to it.

Life comes at you fast man. Yesterday, I had a very prominent Chicago attorney call me and ask if I could be a reference for them in a new position, and my office called requesting I apply for a formal director position with the City of Chicago. #itwasalladream

Just got offered my first position on a Board. Life comes at you quick!

I just got an invitation from a DePaul professor to speak to a class of first year students about police accountability and city government. I’m geeking lol.

Put my son to sleep last night and as he was passed out in my arms to told him that I loved him more than anything and if for whatever reason I wasn’t able to come home one day, that it was my time and that I did everything in my power to come back home. I always will.

Went to lunch with another elected official yesterday and DAMN did buddy drop some of the hardest game on me. I left feeling like I just got another degree lol.
