In the footage, she recounts using the same racial slur toward a person in custody during an arrest and later states she felt “at peace” after saying it. HPD has relieved Gonzalez of duty and is conducting an internal investigation into the matter.

🚨 "Suspicion" alone is not a crime. It's always the pretext to a stop, but if the officer can't articulate what crime you've committed, you are free to go. Lawyer likely won a lawsuit from the city over this.

Houston Police say an officer was relieved of duty after a video surfaced allegedly showing her using racist slurs, even describing using that language during an arrest. If these allegations are true, this officer’s actions would be a betrayal of the badge and a THREAT to justice itself! We are already fighting an uphill battle against bias and wrongdoing within police forces, we don’t need officers who will weaponize hate against the very communities they are sworn to protect! The Houston Police say they are investigating. Justice demands nothing less than a FULL investigation.
