Grok foundation model V9-Medium (1.5T) has finished training. Evals look good. A lot of Cursor data was added in supplementary training and there is more to come.
Fine-tuning is underway and reinforcement learning begins in a few days. 2 to 3 weeks to public release.
This will be a major improvement over the 0.5T v8-small that currently serves all Grok production traffic, especially for difficult coding tasks.

Regarding the OpenAI case, the judge & jury never actually ruled on the merits of the case, just on a calendar technicality.
There is no question to anyone following the case in detail that Altman & Brockman did in fact enrich themselves by stealing a charity. The only question is WHEN they did it!
I will be filing an appeal with the Ninth Circuit, because creating a precedent to loot charities is incredibly destructive to charitable giving in America.

Leaflet.js (and derivatives like Mapbox) is my usual go-to for web maps, but this time I’m experimenting with OpenLayers.js since it handles high-latitude projections a bit more cleanly out of the box. Here we have a fictional map with portions of North America clipped and various overlays applied, including live weather. Why the Walmart overlay? Well, as the saying goes, “If Walmart don’t got it, you probably don’t need it!” 😄

Just started testing the @grok Build beta. First feel: UX is nice, still some rough edges, but model speed is genuinely cool. If task quality on hard stuff matches opus 4.7 (or even slightly below) at this speed, it's a game-changer. Good chance they steamroll the competition.
