One week ago today, my life and career took an unexpected turn. As many of you know that sequence of events has led to my family and I making the difficult decision to end my campaign for re-election in the upcoming Provincial Election. To say it has been an honour to serve our community and region would be an understatement. I am so blessed to have represented this incredible part of the province and I have tried to do the job, every day. to the best of my ability. I never forgot why I was in Victoria in the first place, because people had faith in me, to speak up on their behalf. Thank you to my constituents for giving me this honour. I am filled with gratitude for those who have been on this journey with me, my family, friends, colleagues and my staff. I simply could not have done this job without all of your constant support, kindness and personal care. While I do not know what my future holds at the moment, I do know this . . . there is so much work to be done and I have never been one to sit on the sidelines. More about that in the days ahead . . . in the meantime, I have 17 more days as the MLA for Prince George Valemount. I intend to finish well, working hard, attending events and being present in the community and region that I love so very much. I am filled with enormous gratitude . . . Shirley 💕 💕 PS to the hundreds of people that took time to text, call, send messages, drop treats, flowers and cards, I cannot begin to tell you how much that helped me get through some difficult days. @AJWVictoriaBC My spouse and I started work downtown in 2006 and the traffic lights caused so much chaos then. Now, add in closed roads, bike lanes, narrow roads and construction and it’s absolutely not worth going DT. Ever.

I have a confession, and it took me this long in my life to realize it. You will all think I'm crazy, but, I love shovelling snow. It's excellent physical activity (I take frequent breaks). The air is so fresh and so cold and when the job is finished it's so rewarding. I'm nuts.

Tracked down the mysterious “Madonna of the UFO’’ painting located in Palazzo Vecchio in Florence. The 15th century painting depicts what appears to be a flying saucer above the left shoulder of the Madonna, with man looking up at it while his dog appears to be barking at it.
