important update❗️tw: medical talk ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// I got the call on Monday morning that my grandma has an aggressive form of cancer. Shortly after stream on Tuesday, I was further informed that it was Stage IV Lung Cancer and that, with treatment, she could live anywhere from 1-2 years. More if luck is on her side. My grandmother practically raised me. She’s very far from a perfect woman, but without her, I literally wouldn’t be here today. I don’t think I would’ve had the opportunity to be in my current situation, laughing, smiling, and being degenerate with all of you. Well, she’d probably have something to say about the degenerate part, but let’s keep that aspect a secret. I’m in shock right now, but I know that shock is going to turn into a flurry of different emotions as time goes on and treatment begins. This news comes at a time that was already pretty bad for me mentally, and I’m pretty sure this isn’t going to offer any improvements on that front once reality sets in. One of my priorities right now is making sure that I can spend time with and make good memories with the woman who raised me. And due to the unpredictable nature and outcome of treatment, that may mean shorter stream weeks, sudden stream cancellations, and all kinds of schedule fucky-wucky shit that may be frustrating for all of us to deal with. All I can do is kindly request that you have patience and understanding. I am not planning to quit or take a true “hiatus” because streaming and talking with all of you is likely to become one of the best distractions from all the bullshit as it’s happening. I want to give you 100% of myself during streams because that’s what you deserve. I want to be the one who always makes you laugh and takes your mind off of things, not the one who reminds you of the darkest aspects of life. Because of that, I want to prioritize quality over quantity when it comes to streams, and I’d be beyond grateful if you could take it easy on me in terms of stream length/potential cancellations. That being said. This whole thing has really been a reminder for me of how time is all we really have and the most important thing for us to treasure. If you have loved ones, reach out to them and let them know. There’s no predicting whether you’ll have them tomorrow. And finally–at risk of sounding preachy–please, if you’re a smoker, please consider stopping. I didn’t want to include this because I don’t want anyone to feel judged or lectured about an addiction, but it would weigh heavy on my heart if I didn’t say anything at all. If even one person quits from me saying this, it’s worth including. Yes, you can get lung cancer without smoking a day in your life, and that’s because cancer is bullshit and unfair and cruel. But smoking makes it 15-30x more likely. My grandma was a lifelong smoker, and she never had any side-effects until, suddenly, she did. And cancer is not an easy way to die. Please, please, please consider quitting if you have even a slight desire to give it up. It could change your life for the better, and the life of everyone who cares about you. Before you say “NO ONE CARES ABOUT ME” I am literally your wife and love you so shut the fuck up. That’s it for now. Thanks for reading this very long post. I love you all and hope you’re healthy for a long, long time to come. TL;DR: Streams will continue, but with less predictable schedules. I’m traveling a lot off-stream to visit sick family, so I may be more tired than normal. All I ask for is kindness and understanding of schedule changes/unpredictability during this time.
