@i_am_khoree Je pense qu'il est très important que les coachs, manager et structure commence à se former avec des personnes compétentes si on veut que l'esport perdure !

No matter how long you've been working in esports, there comes a time when you need help. But in this industry when people see you failing too much, slowing down or struggling, it can be a death sentence. Fans call you out on Twitter and professionals call you "washed" behind closed doors. This is what the coaches, players, managers, content creators and many more live every day. They bottle it up and hide it from friends, family, managers, teammates because they're ashamed. It gets to a point where I need to specify that we can work together under NDAs so they can save face and be sure that nobody will find out they asked for help. We cannot continue working like this. Esports has been chewing up and spitting out these people for decades now. And I believe this shit needs to stop. Whether you've got the funds to seek help or not, I got you. For those who can, you can apply/book consultations to get the help you need, single consultations, weekly follow-ups. Whatever you need we'll find a way to make it work. For the younger ones, or if you simply cannot afford it, I've got something for you too. You can ask as many questions as you want and fill out the form available below. I'll answer the most frequently asked questions live and give you advice, resources, help, so you can work on your own. During Hotline Esports live I invite professionals to answer YOUR questions as well. Most of the content already available is in French. From now on, content will also be available in English (I'm slowly translating old videos) I'm tired of seing goodbye posts on Twitter, hearing painful stories of how ONE failure led to the end of a career. Asking for help is not shameful. All informations below ⬇️

This makes me think of how we like to say "outsiders" are close-minded when talking about esports and how they don't understand how great it is and bla bla bla But this tweet and the creative direction at @G2esports show you exactly the typical esports fan's reaction to ANYTHING new in esports. Today it's about how merch is "too girly", how the visuals are "creepy, cringe" and whatnot Anytime someone tries to merge styles, methods, knowledge from other industries that haven't been introduced yet in esports, you're met with pure outrage. We like to think we're soooo open-minded because we're into esports and "it's real serious mom, it's not just people playing video games !! okay ?!" but look at how people react To be clear, if you don't like the design, the merch etc..you have the right to do so. But trying to control esports and actively rejecting any form of artistic, profesional development does not help the scene. "It was better in the good old days" This is nostalgia speaking, not the truth. Merch was (and still is) massively designed for men, the jerseys look the same. Remove the logo and you can't tell a post match result post from one another and the list goes on. And it's not just about art and merch, it runs deep into every aspects in esports. Every day I get to see how coaches and players haven't developped their work method in decades. Doing the same damn analysis, failing to retrieve data and so on just because "we've always worked like that". You should see their faces when I introduce them to corporate methods that also apply in esports, it's like they're seeing the sun for the first time. Just because you don't know or haven't experienced it yet does not mean it shouldn't exist in esports. Like everything in this world, esports HAS to change and develop. Orgs, teams, players, games will change and take different paths in order to blossom and stay alive. I hate to break it to you but orgs struggle with new fan/client acquisition. Being niche isn't a good thing right now. If you don't know much about design this might seem like a stretch but it's a strong strategy to be more appealing to new players and potential futur esports fans. It has to start somewhere. Preventing evolution is preparing one’s own death. You said it perfectly @RougeLuxy "Art is art, and if it has gotten a reaction out of you then it has served its purpose"
Roxanne Calura ✧@RougeLuxy

The reactions to @G2esports's new creative direction are fascinating. It’s a perfect case study not just in art, but in how gaming communities respond the moment something steps outside the usual “esports” formula. Shoutout to orgs that consistently push beyond that. @FlyQuest has been doing an incredible job expanding creative direction especially with their apparel. The quality, the concepts and the intention feel considered all throughout. Big credit to @CARLIEB0T for setting that standard. And then you have work that elevates the entire space. @TeamLiquid and @the3n19ma have been delivering visuals where you can clearly see there are well thought out moodboards and storyboarding behind them. The 2023 TL VALORANT roster announcement is still one of the best examples of 3D/CG work in esports. I am sure there are some more examples but these are some that come to my mind right now. Personally, I love what G2 is doing. It’s a real step away from the cookie-cutter, and that’s exactly what this space needs more of... Art is art, and if it has gotten a reaction out of you then it has served its purpose.

A past boyfriend told me I'd never make it in esports Even though he was also a gamer, he found it cringe that I even considered working in this industry. "You have nothing to bring there" We broke up obviously And for quite some time, I stopped considering it until my now husband encouraged me to pursue a career in gaming and esports He bought me my first webcam, watched every stream, he still checks every video before they are posted. He's my biggest support, biggest fan and loves to see me pursue my dream. It makes such a difference to be able to pursue your dream career when you've got support around you But I don't think you should "need" it Truth be told, I was never the problem, I've been good at what I do for quite some time. The only issue was trusting and believing in me. This is something I've worked on for the past few years. Don't get me wrong, support is such an advantage and makes everything easier. You have someone to celebrate the wins, someone to share the difficult times with. You're never alone. But we have to learn to do what we truly want to without having to wait for external validation. Even with that support there always comes a time where YOU have to be the one trusting yourself. If you have the support enjoy it to the fullest, if you don't, you'll need a shit ton of perseverance. It's not a matter of "do I need support?" but rather "how do I get what I want with what I have now?"

This is so true I've worked in the automotive industry, tech, beauty/skincare and now esports. Outside experience adds so much depth to our work. Our skills translate into every environment. As long as you adopt the right mindset, meaning being eager to learn and respect the people you're working with, it always works out.

You don't need to come from games to work in games. Crazy how many industry professionals that are saying this. I came from the cannabis industry and I put years of work in to learn and now I work at Riot. Let people surprise you, outside experience is so important too.
