Yeah, it was For The Love of Horror in October 2024. I stay in the hotel that many of the guests stay in, so we're all often in the lobby/bar. We just spoke about TERRIFER 3 and how nobody will want to shower ever again! He was a lot of fun and so taken aback by the fandom. I don't think he knew what he was letting himself in for! Amen to that, Sir. It's funny you mention the chainsaw dude (Mason Mecartea). I met him in my hotel lobby a couple of years ago and he was the nicest, most humble guy. That's something else I always think about – if you actually had chance to converse with the creators of these films, you get a window of opportunity to see what they're all about. Common ground is often found in these situations. I met Damien Leone too. When I spoke with him, he was such a nice chap. No ego, just happy to be doing what he loves.

After talking with you about this I went and read a little on the idea behind the copious amounts of nudity. I didn’t know it was Corman’s idea behind the flesh. It seems he thought it would help with the movie financially, and it is said to subvert the trope as well. At least that’s the way director Amy Holden Jones styled it as. She also did some of the rewrites, too. The critics and ones on their ‘moral high ground’ almost never see below the surface on these matters. They lack in sophistication. Or they’re blinded by a preconceived worldview. Or they’re just not being honest with themselves. And like you said, especially back when these movies were coming out. The tortured male victims is a great point you bring up. I almost never see this talked about. I mentioned this a few times before during the whole Terrifier discourse. The mouthpieces seem to disappear when we talk about how Art ran a chainsaw up a guys ass. Or when he cut off a pretty important part of the male anatomy. Also, let’s do a gender kill count on these movies. What’s the ratio of male to female.😂 Lastly, to touch on what you said, the perennial Final Girl! It’s right there. . .so obvious. They seize and save the day. They have the spotlight. I love the Final Girl trope. It’s the thrill of the slasher movie. I couldn’t agree more.
