✅ Impact on the Economy : Weakening of Rupee : - A falling Rupee makes imports expensive and increases imported inflation. Pressure on Forex Reserves : - RBI has to use foreign exchange reserves to stabilize the currency. Stock Market Volatility : - Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) selling shares can lead to market decline. Rise in Living Costs : - Costlier imports increase prices of fuel, fertilizers, and daily-use goods. Higher Subsidy Burden : - Government spending rises to control the impact of expensive imports on citizens. ✅ Measures to Control Capital Flight : RBI Intervention : - RBI sells Dollars and uses currency swaps to stabilize the Rupee. Import Duty Increase : - Government raises duties on items like gold and silver to reduce unnecessary Dollar outflows. Behavioral Appeals : - Promoting domestic tourism and reduced gold consumption helps conserve foreign exchange. Market Regulations : - Restrictions on speculative currency trading help prevent excessive pressure on the Rupee.
