🚨 URGENT SECURITY WARNING: SOPHISTICATED DEEPFAKE PHISHING ATTACK TARGETING BITCOIN USERS Martin Kuchař, co-founder of BTC Prague, and Bitcoin treasury strategist Ed Juline report an active, high-level hacking campaign targeting the Bitcoin community. How the attack works: - Victims receive a Zoom or Microsoft Teams call via Telegram - The caller uses AI deepfake video to impersonate a trusted contact - Attackers claim audio issues and instruct victims to install a “plugin” - The plugin grants full system access, allowing theft of bitcoin, Telegram accounts, and credentials - Compromised accounts are then used to spread the attack further Ed Juline nearly fell victim after receiving a call that appeared to be from Martin Kuchař. Despite prior warnings and seeing familiar faces on video, a fake audio update prompt nearly compromised his system. He was only spared after being warned to immediately unplug his computer. Immediate actions to take: - Do not accept Zoom or Teams calls initiated via Telegram - Treat all Telegram messages as untrusted, even from known contacts - Never install plugins or updates during a call - Use safer alternatives like Signal, Jitsi, or Google Meet - Install reputable malware protection and remain vigilant These attackers are highly professional and are successfully exploiting trust, urgency, and deepfake technology. This can happen to anyone. Question everything.
