OPUS 4.7 FAILED THE INFAMOUS CAR WASH TEST ON LAUNCH DAY this is the viral trick question used to test if a model actually reasons or just pattern matches: "i want to wash my car. the car wash is 50 meters away. should I walk or drive?" the correct answer is drive (obviously) because you need the car at the car wash Opus 4.7 said: "walk. it's 50 meters" it didn't think about why you're going to the car wash. it just pattern matched on "short distance = walk" when corrected, it admitted: "I pattern-matched on 'should I walk or drive for a short distance' and gave the stock answer for that template, without actually thinking about the goal Opus 4.6 gets it right instantly: "Drive.
