An attempted truck theft escalated into an armed confrontation at an H-E-B on the Southeast Side of San Antonio. Police say two suspects tried to steal a gray Ford F-250 but were unable to take it due to a breathalyzer device installed in the truck. They fled in a gray Dodge Charger, but later returned after realizing they left a phone inside the vehicle. The truck owner had already recovered the phone, and when one suspect came back attempting to retrieve it, the situation escalated. During the confrontation, the suspect pulled a gun on the truck owner before fleeing the scene again. The suspects remain on the run, and the investigation is ongoing. Source: KSAT

Native American Family Says Officer Ignored Court Orders And Forced Entry Case Dismissed A Native American family in Utah is speaking out after what they say was a complete breakdown of the system inside their own home. They claim an officer showed up with a woman who legally was not supposed to be near the property due to protective orders and instead of verifying anything he allegedly ignored the paperwork crumpled it and forced his way inside. No warrant. No permission. Just escalation. According to the family they tried to hand over court documents showing the children’s father had full custody along with protective orders against the mother. They say those papers were never properly reviewed before things turned physical. What was supposed to be a civil standby quickly turned into chaos right in front of children who were so scared they reportedly barricaded themselves in a room. Then it gets even more serious. The family says they were the ones charged accused of assaulting an officer. But in the end a judge dismissed the case with prejudice. Now they are asking a question many are raising. How does someone show up with a restricted individual ignore court orders enter a home and the family ends up being charged? They also claim the officer was later fired after multiple complaints and say tribal authorities were involved at one point adding another layer to an already complicated situation but ultimately the charges did not hold up in court. For this family the impact goes beyond the courtroom. They say the trauma still lingers especially for the children who witnessed everything unfold. Via: Angelise Clemente/fb

Former Dallas police officer and past Dallas Police Association president Jaime Castro pleaded guilty to one count of making a false statement to a police officer in connection with a fatal crash that occurred in March 2025. According to the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office, the charge is a Class B misdemeanor. As part of the plea agreement, Castro will surrender his peace officer license, complete DWI classes, pay a fine, and serve one year of deferred probation. The case stems from a March 15, 2025 crash in northwest Dallas that killed 25-year-old Atianna Washington, who was attempting to cross a dimly lit section of West Northwest Highway near the 2500 block when she was struck. Castro, who was president of the Dallas Police Association at the time, was listed as a passenger in the vehicle involved in the crash. Following the incident, he was placed on administrative leave during the investigation and later announced his retirement from the Dallas Police Department in January 2026. Dallas County Criminal District Attorney John Creuzot said the guilty plea followed an investigation by the office’s Public Integrity Unit, noting investigators reviewed the facts surrounding the original crash and the statements made afterward.

A traffic stop in Hurst, TX, is gaining attention online after a mother was arrested while traveling with her 15-year-old son. According to a post circulating on social media, the woman was pulled over for allegedly speeding and provided her driver’s license but refused to accept the paper copy of the citation, saying she planned to contest it in court and believed the stop involved racial profiling. The officer reportedly tossed the ticket toward her after she declined to take it. She then threw the paper out of the window, which led to a second issue involving littering. The situation escalated when the officer allegedly removed the woman from her vehicle and arrested her in front of her son. The post claims she was later issued a citation and released before being taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the arrest. The incident has sparked debate online about how the situation was handled.

Everman High School was placed on lockdown Tuesday afternoon after a student reported that another student may have had a firearm on campus. According to the Everman Police Department, the report was made to a School Resource Officer shortly after 2:00 p.m., prompting an immediate law enforcement response. Officers quickly identified the suspected student and took the juvenile into custody without incident. Police say a handgun was recovered. Because the suspect is a juvenile, authorities have not released their identity. Officials also addressed rumors circulating on social media, stating there is no evidence the firearm was displayed during a fight on campus. While a fight did occur, police say it was a separate and unrelated incident. Authorities credited the student who reported the concern and the swift coordination between police and school staff for helping resolve the situation safely. Alabama Governor Kay Ivey has commuted the death sentence of Charles “Sonny” Burton, a 75-year-old death row inmate who was scheduled to be executed this week for a 1991 robbery that ended in a fatal shooting. Burton was convicted of capital murder after participating in the armed robbery of an AutoZone store in Talladega where a customer, Doug Battle, was shot and killed. However, Burton did not fire the fatal shot and had already left the building when the shooting happened, authorities said. Under Alabama’s felony murder law, anyone involved in a felony can be held responsible for a death that occurs during the crime—even if they didn’t commit the killing. The man who actually shot the victim previously had his death sentence reduced to life in prison, which the governor cited when deciding to spare Burton’s life. Ivey said it would be unjust to execute Burton while the person who pulled the trigger was not facing execution. Burton’s sentence has now been reduced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Authorities in Enterprise, Alabama have charged Adrienne Reid with capital murder and abuse of a corpse in connection with the death of her 2-year-old daughter, Genesis Reid. Police say the investigation began on February 16 when Reid reported her daughter missing from their apartment on Apache Drive. Detectives later determined the report was false and arrested her the next day for false reporting to law enforcement. According to investigators, surveillance footage shows Reid walking toward the apartment complex dumpster with a rolling duffle bag around 11:30 p.m. Authorities believe Genesis had not been seen since Christmas Day. Officials say the child’s remains have not been located, but investigators believe the duffle bag was collected by trash services and transported to the Coffee County Landfill. Authorities have narrowed down a search area and say the recovery operation could take up to 10 weeks. Prosecutors say Reid carried out a 53-day campaign of lies and deception before reporting her daughter missing and are considering seeking the death penalty in the case.

An 18-year-old suspect, Darius Hall, has been charged with capital murder following a deadly robbery and carjacking in Houston’s Heights neighborhood. Loved ones say 61-year-old Marietta Allison was shot and killed Friday after she dropped off a friend near an apartment building on West 20th Street following the friend’s chemotherapy treatment at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Allison had traveled from Austin to Houston to support the friend she considered a sister while she underwent cancer treatment. According to investigators, after Allison dropped her friend off, Hall approached her in what police believe was a robbery attempt. Authorities say Allison was shot in the neck during the carjacking before the suspect fled the scene in her vehicle. She was transported to a nearby hospital but later died from her injuries. Police later located the stolen vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, which led to a pursuit that ended when the vehicle crashed. Hall then barricaded himself inside a nearby apartment, prompting a standoff with officers before he eventually surrendered. Hall is currently being held without bond in the Harris County Jail and faces charges including capital murder, evading arrest, and tampering with evidence. The investigation remains ongoing.
