#WATCH | Narayanpur, Chhattisgarh: When asked about what difficulties villagers faced in obtaining rations earlier, local Vithrebhai Gota says, "...Now, things are convenient; a road has been built... When the Naxalites were active here previously, they used to completely block off the road... We used to go to Orcha, a distance of 20 kms (to get the ration). Our children would go hungry, and we had to travel 20 kms just to bring back rice... Now, rations are being delivered directly to your village... we receive items such as rice, ghee, salt, sugar, and chickpeas..."

#WATCH | Narayanpur, Chhattisgarh: When asked about what difficulties villagers faced in obtaining rations earlier, local Gudduram Juri says, "Before, we faced difficulties due to the rain and the scorching sun. The roads weren't fully developed... We used to collect our rations from here, from Orchha... It is about 7-8 kms away... We used to come on foot... We faced many difficulties... It was extremely difficult to navigate the rocky terrain while carrying heavy loads, and we often had to wade through deep water and rain... Now, we transport ration by tractor. The Collector ma'am must have issued instructions; thanks to that, we are receiving excellent support..."

#WATCH | Narayanpur, Chhattisgarh: Collector Namrata Jain says, "... Earlier, villagers in interior areas had to walk 50–70 km for ration, which was even more difficult during the rains. Now, PDS shops have been approved at the Gram Panchayat level, many are under construction, and ration is delivered directly to villages by tractor. Nodal officers ensure proper arrangements, quality checks, and smooth distribution. Community buildings, PDS shops, ashrams, anganwadis and schools are being set up, while ration continues to reach villages even where storage facilities are not yet available."

#WATCH | Dubai, UAE | On his visit to Dubai, EAM Dr S Jaishankar says, "... I convey to him (Sheikh Mohammed) Prime Minister Narendra Modi's message and our appreciation for the manner in which the Indian community in UAE was looked after during this very difficult period... While the Indian community was first and foremost in our concern and therefore in my discussions as well, obviously, we discussed other aspects of our relationship... We've had a very intense conflict in this region. Obviously, India has major stakes and a big interest in the stability and security of this region. I'm pleased to have an opportunity to come here, sit down directly, and express our interests and, incidentally, also share the feedback of the Indian community... I conveyed to the government that the community was very appreciative of the manner in which they were looked after."

#WATCH | Dubai, UAE | On his visit to Dubai, EAM Dr S Jaishankar says, "I arrived in the UAE yesterday. So this morning, I met with Sheikh Mohammed, the President of the UAE. I brought with me a message from Prime Minister Modi, and our conversation focused on our strategic relationship and its various initiatives, such as energy, economic trade, and the energy and trade relationship. The UAE is a major partner for us, so we discussed that. We also discussed other topics. But one of the main points was our Indian community in the UAE, in Abu Dhabi, elsewhere, and in Dubai. At the time of the recent war, their safety and well-being were a major issue. People in India were also concerned. As soon as I arrived yesterday, I met with representatives of the community. I shared their experiences and feelings with the President of the UAE. He also wanted me to share the feedback I received. I did that as well. I think my visit to the UAE was a good one. I discussed this topic with the UAE leadership, including the Crown Prince of Dubai, the Deputy Prime Minister and the Defence Minister, who were present at the meeting today. Yesterday, I had a detailed discussion with the Foreign Minister, Sheikh Abdullah. There's a lot of diplomacy going on these days, and the situation here is quite complex, so we discussed it openly. Overall, I'm happy that this visit happened at the right time and that the dialogue between strategic partners was as open as it usually is."

Sarpa Pooja this morning in my ancestral home the 150-yr old Pokatutharayil house in Kayamkulam.
My v enlightened cousins who’ve spent a small fortune to preserve the family home exactly as it was (minus the interlocking tiles) perform this ritual each year.
Puja performed in the Sarpa Kavu (snake grove) - my favourite part of the estate- the abode of the Naga Devatas. 🐍 🐍
Many coconut trees on the estate symbolise generations of the family who’ve passed on over the last century. (planted on the funeral site).
