Over the years, a few people have asked for the ability to disable the feature that renders laser power proportional to movement speed/acceleration. This is now controllable via both a config option and a M-code. See buff.ly/3gDRSCw

Braving the worldwide chip shortage, Robosprout has finally managed to produce a batch of v1 Smoothieboard. Last batch to be sold at the traditional price until the end of the shortage/price hike, so get yours now if you need one! buff.ly/3g6qluF

TADA ! buff.ly/3yyAasl Jim has been working very hard on this new port of Smoothie v2, to an *even* nicer chip, to work around the current worldwide chip shortages that were freezing progress of the v2 project. See how much nicer the chip is at buff.ly/3yCUKI4

Jim Morris (wolfmanjm) just implemented RTC support for the filesystem in Smoothie v2 (on top of support for NTP). Now file changes will have the right timestamps, allowing for proper sorting and track-keeping. Really cool new v2 feature! Hardware/cell battery support coming too!

This is not properly Smoothie-related, but I find it so exciting I feel compelled to share it here anyway: buff.ly/3vMvPQ0

Due to Covid's effect on business/chip supply, I am working for Wire (buff.ly/10Pb2ZB). They are a very cool company that does Open-Source work and helps protect privacy and provides tools for journalists/freedom people. Please vote for them at buff.ly/3vihb2U !

*VERY* cool project by Chris of Robosprout: buff.ly/2R198J6 . The Smoothie v1-core is a v1-based version of the v2-core (One in the planned series of v2 Smoothieboards, see buff.ly/3sNaHax ). Loves/interfaces both πs and Gadgeteer (buff.ly/2ZgyYs6)

This has been hitting us *so* hard. Update about it soon, the situation gets turned upside down so often, that I keep having to rewrite the message to the community about it: buff.ly/2QOyjOA

We want to improve Pick And Place support in Smoothie. If you have an scratch-built or refurbished/able PnP machine, and want to upgrade it to Smoothieboard, email wolf.arthur@gmail.com so we can help you, and learn about things to improve in the process. Cheers!

It's a bit odd that Smoothie isnt even mentioned on Wikipedia's Reprap page buff.ly/3djJQNI but completely obscure alternatives are (also it mixes firmwares&software). I can't really be objective in modifying it, but if there are any other Wikipedians, maybe look into it?

Anyone in the Smoothie community works at one of the in-space 3D printing companies, or one of the rocket-part 3D printing companies, or one of the reusable rocket companies, etc? I'm looking for a job, I'll take anything I find but I'd rather one of these. wolf.arthur@gmail.com

Really cool Smoothieboard-powered Pick and Place ( OpenPNP ) machine. Mak&Dream is apparently working on making a full kit, which would be really nice for people looking at building OpenPNP setups without the usual improvisation/learning needed. buff.ly/3r4f1Bu

(10/n) Building upon @OpenBuilds hardware, @Smoothieware controller and the @opentrons API, this project demonstrates the power of open-source for laboratory automation. Thanks for sharing and empowering the community!
