Multiplayer games have longevity, single player games are hot for a few weeks to months. The top selling franchises are almost exclusively multiplayer. Minecraft didn’t have a story, biggest game ever. GTA has been carried by RP and gta online. COD even how terrible it is, top seller and extremely popular. Fortnite and so on

I realize it probably never made sense budget wise.
But I wish Marathon launched as a single player campaign with the extraction mode for multiplayer maybe at a slightly smaller scale.
I think lots of people would have been hooked into the world and then they could have added to the multiplayer over time.
But I get that just isn't how games launch these days which is a bummer

Marathon is much more intense and unforgiving. Theres no friendly fire, extremely rare. Maps are smaller so you will definitely encounter squads, there’s no looting peaceful. But I’m confused, if ppl are so secure about Arc Raiders, why do we do this? Or are pockets light and we need the 2-3 dollars from engagement?
