@glass_gear yeah they get representation and some lite moral lessons but the consequences dont feel longlasting or heavy like i read a super popular YA book w/ ensemble cast, and a mc died and it was so...anticlimactic. it felt like it didnt have weight *sighhh* kids arent too dumb for it!

@SnailRatOnTap yeah i agree i actually really liked the brief era of edgy dark books with dystopic themes. it was fantastical but it was kind of fire. like children should have some exposure to "serious" themes

never finished it because growing up i kind of outpaced the new releases in target age demographics but i think i need to reread for real now. this is absolutely beautiful i love romanticism and idealistic endings as much as the next guy but i LIVE for when they dont pull punches
