Well done @chrisluxonmp who just nailed a frequent campaign question at the end of his presser. How much is a block of butter in NZ? Luxon said around $8.40 which is almost spot on for home brand butter. However the gallery journalist claimed it was $11 dollars. Which is true for the fancy branded stuff and non supermarket members. Seems the press gallery only eat branded products.

Inflation remains within the target band at 2.7%. That’s way down from the 7.3% it reached under Labour.
This is the fourth consecutive quarter where inflation has stayed in the target range, and that’s thanks to National’s responsible economic management.
The effect that council rates have had on inflation is a concern. It’s exactly why just last week, we sent a strong message to councils to focus on the basics and keep rates under control.
