Clean solution using window function: SELECT product_id, new_price FROM ( SELECT *, ROW_NUMBER() OVER ( PARTITION BY product_id ORDER BY change_date DESC ) rn FROM Products WHERE change_date <= '2019-08-16' ) t WHERE rn = 1;

SQL Interview Trap 🚨 If all products start with price = 10 and prices change over time… How do you find the price on 2019-08-16? Most people get this WRONG. Let me explain 👇🧵

✅ Correct thinking: We don’t need the maximum price. We need the price from the row with: MAX(change_date ≤ target_date) That’s a timeline problem, not a math problem.

❌ Common mistake: MAX(new_price) Why is this wrong? Because MAX(price) = biggest number NOT latest price. For product 1: MAX(20, 30, 5) = 30 ❌ But latest price = 5 ✅ Big difference.

If your BI team is overwhelmed, it’s usually not a bandwidth issue. It’s a prioritization issue. Leadership is choosing what NOT to build.

There are two types of BI teams: 1️⃣ Order-takers 2️⃣ Strategic partners Order-takers build what’s asked. Strategic partners ask why first. If you're leading BI, build a team that questions, not just executes.

Predictions are powerful. ☀️But the real value comes from: ☀️Predicted vs Actual ☀️Variance analysis ☀️Trend monitoring ☀️Continuous model validation BI closes the loop between forecast and reality.

80% of BI effort goes into: 👉Cleaning data 👉Fixing joins 👉Validating numbers 👉Explaining mismatches 👉20% into actual visualization. Data quality is the real superpower. Any other thoughts are welcome 🤗

Before building any dashboard, I ask: 👉Who is this for? 👉What decision will they take? 👉What metric actually drives action? If you can’t answer these, don’t open Tableau yet. Interesting to know what you do?

BI is not just SQL + Tableau. It’s: • Requirement confusion • Changing business logic • Last-minute metric updates • “Can we add just one more filter?” And still delivering clarity. BI folks - any thoughts here🧐

A BI leader doesn’t just deliver reports. They: • Define metric governance • Align KPIs across teams • Challenge business assumptions • Protect data integrity • Turn insights into strategy Leadership in BI = Influence without authority.

One thing I learned in my BI journey: A “beautiful” dashboard that answers the wrong question is useless. Clarity > Complexity Insights > Aesthetics Impact > Impressing stakeholders Thoughts? Comment below 👇

If your dashboard needs a 15-minute explanation, it’s not intuitive enough. The best BI work feels obvious.

Most people think Business Intelligence is about dashboards. It’s not. It’s about: • Asking the right questions • Understanding the business • Finding patterns in chaos • Turning numbers into decisions Dashboards are just the delivery mechanism. What do you think?

@buildwithsid Why are you even searching for jobs and rejecting it if you have such time constraints. There are many others who need it, don't block the road. No offense - I am sure you must be doing great to reject such an offer.
