@MikeTFox5 Are icy roads going to be an issue tomorrow morning???

SPC in their afternoon update lowered the threat level down to “slight” (level 2 of 5) in our western zones (I-81, Frederick, Martinsburg, Front Royal, Hagerstown, etc) for the remainder of the day but maintained a moderate risk (level 4 of 5) for DC, Southern Maryland, eastern Virginia. Radar warning free for the moment but still some heavy storms in the area.

@MCPS I know that you mentioned it’s expected to hit between 3-6pm when after school activities and sports practices may be going on. This is also when 136 elementary schools will be dismissing and kids riding home on busses.

MCPS is monitoring the potential for a strong storm for Monday, March 16, and will announce any updates concerning operations, including any cancellations of activities or an early dismissal on Monday morning. Visit the MCPS website for more information.

@LoganGilesWx They did not mention dismissing early. Just that they are monitoring as it’s expected to hit when after school activities may be going on

FCPS Closure Odds for Tomorrow! This will be a test for my model/historical data vs my gut feeling. Temperatures will drop below freezing tonight at 8PM and remain there until Noon tomorrow leading to a classic refreeze scenario. Will that be enough? #closefcps

@SnowFan21771 Yeah the band last night setup over me from 7PM till 11PM was dropping 2 inches per hour.

DC and Baltimore will not over perform as the low did go a bit further east.

@Mondzyabizness Yup. I was right in that band.

@SnowFan21771 Parts of that area got that deformation band. Definitely saves totals that way. Very little snow from the coastal storm.

@nova_snow_lover I’m in that band in central Maryland. Over 3 inches

Still snowing nicely in Fairfax; I recorded 2.75 inches. If this band stays put, this area will end up overperforming.

Seeing a under performance for 95 through Baltimore but a possible boom for just west of dc

@DCAreaWx I can confirm. Almost 3 inches in new market

Looks like our deformation band is setting up right over DC and its immediate western suburbs. Expect snow totals on the higher end within this band, with lower end snow totals to the east and west of it. Also, the main event to the north/east is now kicking into full throttle.

Can see the banding we're watching closely showing up on radar pretty well. Latest modeling is trying to drag that band over Montgomery, Fairfax counties eastward towards DC over the next few hours. Areas to the west of that band honestly are not looking a too much more accumulation as this event ramps up and the storm starts to direct moisture away from our region. One of the reason why I kept totals in lower range out that way.
