Business ideas come randomly. To actualise them is the difference between big and successful ventures and failed businesses. A business idea should be given context, followed by a concept and lastly implementing, considering partnerships, finances and sustainability. ^The Bison

Most people are surprised when they hear I went from professional football to green chemistry. But to me, it was a natural transition. ⚽️👨🏽‍🔬 Growing up in the south of France, I was surrounded by nature and the sea from an early age. As my football career progressed, so did my awareness of global warming and the impact that different industries have on the environment and on our health. The products most of us use every day, from shampoos to cleaning products to paints, are still built on fossil-based ingredients. Changing that became my mission.🌱 In 2013, I co-founded GFBiochemicals to make everyday products safer and more sustainable using plant-based ingredients. Football prepared me for this journey more than I expected the discipline, the resilience, and what it truly means to be part of a team. But there is an important shift: as a player, you’re judged on your own performance. As a founder & CEO, your role is to lead and inspire your team, and to share success together. I spoke with Harvard Business Review France about my journey: the transition from international footballer to Green Chemistry entrepreneur, the challenge of building in a sector I came to as an outsider. Waithaka J in some ELC case in Iten has made a rather very controversial decision. 1. A party with no authority over a deceased estate decides to sell the same to a school. ✅️ 2. In short, intermeddled with the estate of the deceased. ✅️ 3. The school develops on the Land by building on it. ✅️ 4. The Court declines to nullify the transaction on the basis that the same would disrupt the Learning in the school & instead ordered for the succession to be done on the estate & reatrained any planned eviction of the school. ✅️ 5. The Big Question is, can intermeddling which is an offence be excused on any Public Interest Imperative?✅️ 6. I want to see this decision on Appeal, can you sell a deceased land with no succession done or lawful court order & be sanctioned by the law?✅️ I am afraid the ELC is wrong on this.

I had the privilege of hosting 80 former Councillors from across Kisumu County at my residence today. We reflected on the evolution of governance and the opportunities now before us. Their experience remains a reservoir of institutional memory, and their insights are vital as we chart a more responsive and effective leadership path for Kisumu. We also engaged candidly on the dynamics of county leadership ; where we are, where we must go, and how best to engage to realise the positive change our people deserve. The consultations continue. #OjiendaKsmGovernor2027 #KisumuforOjienda #DongruokManenore

Mama Ida Odinga has said that in celebration of late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga's 81st birthday, it is her wish that the ODM party be preserved in his honour as an act of service to the country. She appealed to the party’s current leadership to reflect deeply and sincerely on Raila's vision and aspirations for both ODM and Kenya. #starkenyanews

This narrative is pure speculation dressed up as “insider knowledge.” Elections are not decided by secret scripts and imaginary decoys, they are determined by voters, campaigns, alliances, mistakes, and realities on the ground. Blaming Junet, Uhuru, or Matiang’i for Raila’s loss oversimplifies a complex political contest and ignores the agency of millions of Kenyans who made their choice in 2022. There is no credible evidence of a grand plan to “use Baba as a decoy” or hand over the presidency for ten years. Kenyan politics is chaotic, competitive, and often unpredictable, not a perfectly choreographed conspiracy. Claims like these only distract from honest reflection on strategy, messaging, voter turnout, and leadership decisions. Let’s deal in facts, not dramatic theories. Kenyan democracy deserves seriousness

Kyagulanyi Unveils NUP Transition Blueprint Ahead of January 15, Polls National Unity Platform (NUP) president Robert Kyagulanyi has disclosed that the party has set up a technical committee to draft a comprehensive transition blueprint for a new government ahead of the January 15 polls. Kyagulanyi said the National Unity Platform (NUP) is prioritising a smooth and ethical transition to a new government, stressing the need for decent, moral and efficient leadership from day one. He revealed that a transitional mechanism is already in place, led by a technical team tasked with drafting a clear blueprint for the structure of a new government and other transition arrangements. He added that the team is assessing state institutions, existing laws, the security sector, civil service and service delivery systems, while also consulting citizens. The goal, Kyagulanyi said, is to ensure that a new administration takes office in an orderly, constitutional and well-prepared manner.|#TruthOnTime |#UgDecides2026 🗞️ Ivan Kimbowa 📍Kampala Details⤵️ ugandaradionetwork.net/story/kyagulan…

The High Court has stopped Equity Bank from selling a widow’s land in a KSh 377 million loan dispute involving Tembo Tamu Limited. The widow, Rosemele Anyango, says her property was used as security for the company’s loan without her consent, and that her alleged signatures on the charge and guarantee documents were forged. She alleges that her title deed was held by her brother after the deaths of her husband and son, and that she never guaranteed the loan, never signed the documents, nor authorised any charge or security instrument over her property. A forensic analysis reportedly confirmed the forgery, and the court agreed that she had established a prima facie case showing potential fraud. The judge ruled that selling the land before the matter is heard would cause irreparable harm and violate her constitutional right to property under Article 40. Equity Bank insists she signed the documents and guaranteed the debt, but the court has issued a temporary injunction stopping any sale pending full determination of the case. The ruling reinforces that banks must do proper due diligence before charging a guarantor’s land, especially where consent and authenticity are in question. This decision highlights a growing trend in Kenyan courts, protecting vulnerable property owners from fraudulent securities and questionable bank practices. It’s a reminder that even in commercial lending, the law still shields the innocent.

🚨 Land Governance Overhaul: President Assents to the Land Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2023. Kenya’s land regime has undergone major reforms reshaping the powers of the National Land Commission (NLC), the process of compulsory acquisition, valuation of rent, and registration frameworks Here’s a breakdown of what changes. 🧵 1️⃣ Review of Public Land Grants_ National Land Commission Act, Section 14 Before: National Land Commission could only review grants and dispositions of public land within 5 years from the commencement of the Act. Now: The 5-year limit is removed & NLC may review any public land grant at any time. 📌 Impact: Expands NLC’s oversight on public land indefinitely. Exposes holders of titles originating from public land to potential revocation even decades later. Reinforces anti-corruption and land justice goals but increases uncertainty for investors and lenders. 2️⃣ Historical Land Injustices (NLC Act, Section 15) Before: Claims had to be filed within 5 years of the commencement of the Act. Now: No time limitation, victims of land injustices may lodge claims without restriction. 📌 Impact: Enables long-marginalized communities to seek restitution or compensation. Could reopen long-settled ownerships, raising tenure security and succession concerns. 3️⃣ Compulsory Acquisition of Land (Land Act, Part VIII) Before: NLC exercised powers of compulsory acquisition, issuing notices, conducting inquiries, determining compensation, and taking possession on behalf of national or county governments. Now: These functions move to the Cabinet Secretary for Lands, with NLC retaining only an advisory and oversight role. 📌 Impact: Centralizes compulsory acquisition under the Ministry. Landowners will now engage primarily with the Ministry, not NLC. 4️⃣ Land Acquisition Committee (New Provision in the Land Act) A statutory Land Acquisition Committee is created to review compensation disputes and objections within 90 days. 📌 Impact: Promotes faster and more specialized determinations. Offers pre-court review for valuation and compensation disputes. 5️⃣ Rent & Valuation of Public Land Leases - New Provision in the Land Act Before: Rent for public land leases determined at grant and rarely updated. Now: There will be a land value index and 10-year rent revaluation cycle, coordinated by the Ministry and approved by Parliament. 📌 Impact: Aligns lease rent with current market value. Increases fiscal accountability and public revenue. May raise operational costs for long-term lessees and affect mortgage valuations. 6️⃣ Rent Clearance Before Registration of Charges - Land Registration Act, Section 56(4)). Now, a charge can not be registered unless a valid land rent clearance certificate is produced. 📌 Impact: Ensures compliance and rent recovery before loan registration. May delay financing transactions where arrears exist. Strengthens fiscal discipline in leasehold property management. 💡 Key Takeaway: The Land Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2023 marks a transformative but delicate shift in Kenya’s land governance, empowering the State to correct historical injustices and tighten fiscal discipline, while reshaping institutional power and investor risk. 👉 Follow @hklaw_kenya for timely, practical legal insights on emerging land and property law developments.
