friend asked me this weekend why Mormons are disproportionately represented in the entrepreneur class I said that I don’t think they/we are but I do think we overindex on the “put food on the table by any means necessary” class you go on a mission at 18 married at 21 first baby at 22 that’ll light a fire under your ass to bring home the bacon no need to spend your twenties “finding yourself” - we’ll tell you who you are, how you should spend your life, and how to get after it (me underachieving with my first at 27)

@foxonabox_ I guess agree to disagree. My hunch is most would flip positions if the political persuasion was the one variable you change. You might not, and I might not, but plenty would.

@Soapywings I think regardless of political leaning, if the wife of a murdered celeb went on tour and started doing speaking events with fireworks days after the husband’s murder, I think we would all be dunking on that person

@foxonabox_ And she’s not going to not call it out. To me the interesting part of it is I think if shoes were on the other foot, the people defending would be outraged and the people outraged would defend, all for the most part. And for that I think it’s interesting and sad.

@foxonabox_ I guess I’m not sure I agree. If it’s because she still talks about her husband being murdered less than a year ago. Not sure I’ll agree. Plenty of windows talk, some on TV about their spouses death and what took them. Add to that she’s being mocked by comedians like Drewski

@foxonabox_ When you say her own gain, can you explain that more? To be clear, I haven’t followed that much. Thought the fireworks at the celebration of life thing was very bizarre.

@Soapywings I’m not criticizing her for being a “windowed” working mom. But I am critical of how she’s basically leveraged her husbands murder since the day he was killed for her own gain in the weirdest of ways.

@foxonabox_ Different time, but was there a similar criticism of Katie Couric for working after her husband died and she had two small children.

@foxonabox_ To take care of kids, or is it also ok that she balances that and tries to improve, grow or sustain it so there is something for her kids if they want to participate. Which one honors her husband and takes care of her kids best. I don’t know. But I find the criticism interest
