Today, Fonseca came back from 2 sets down. Ruud also just came back from 2 sets down. Both did it 7-5 in the 5th. Both matches are in the top 5 longest in duration for the tournament. And now they’ll face off for the first time for a spot in the quarterfinals. BIG matchup.

Can’t stress enough how impressed I am of both a 39 year old & 19 year old. It was a match for the ages Longest match of Fonseca’s career and BACK TO BACK comeback wins. Simply unreal. I loved the way they greeted each other at the net. Special scenes. What a rollercoaster

No matter how this ends, Joao Fonseca has done a spectacular job today to push Novak to 5 sets. Not sure what more people need to believe in the hype, & believe in the kid.

Safe to say Djokovic vs Fonseca has lived up to the expectations. Really enjoying this one. What a tussle it has been Djokovic up 5-4 in the 4th looking for a break to finish it off. Let’s see.

@batman_voice Djokovic came out today looking like he knew this was his best shot at 25 he might ever get. Locked in I’d say Djokovic & Zverev are up there at the top, then maybe a Casper Ruud can always be dangerous here. One side of the draw is INSANELY open

With Sinner and Alcatraz out at #RolandGaros, who do you all have to win it? Djokovic is thinking it’s his last chance. Everyone else is thinking, it’s my first chance. Most exciting French open ever, because anyone can now win it!

@Qhama__B Not sure, Djokovic has a lot of experience and knows how to manage his body better than anyone else, so I’m not counting him out even if this match goes the distance. Joao played a 5 setter the other day and isn’t the fittest of guys on tour either, so I’d say they’re equal

Djokovic takes the first set as he started like a house on fire. But the last couple of games will have encouraged Fonseca. This is far from over. I still have Fonseca winning in 4 or 5 sets. I don’t think Djokovic will have the stamina. #RolandGarros

Two breaks was too much to come back from for Fonseca, but he’ll take some positives into the 2nd to hopefully keep it closer. It’s a love hold for Djokovic to take the opener at last. 6-4

Fonseca was down 1-5 0-40… and now finds himself at 4-5. Really nice couple of games from the youngster, seemed to start nervous and Djokovic locked in but the tables have turned a little bit now Novak with another chance to serve it out. Things have gotten interesting 🔥

El triunfo de Joao Fonseca es, quizás, uno de los más importantes de su carrera. Y sí, es segunda ronda de un Grand Slam. Pero analicemos el contexto. Remontó un 0-2 en sets frente a Dino Prizmic, uno de los chicos más peligrosos del circuito hoy en día. Este triunfo le sirve para demostrar que no solo tiene buenos golpes y explosión. También tiene personalidad para dar vuelta un partido cuando todo parecía que se le iba en contra.

Well I sure didn’t expect Fonseca to turn that one around. 3-6, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1, 6-2 First ever win from 2 sets down at a slam and what a way to do it!! Prizmic’s level dropped and Joao’s only got better & better. That last return game was unreal Next: DJOKOVIC 🐐 Can’t wait

Fonseca recovers and takes the 3rd set!! 6-3 What a matchup we have here I would love to see these two go 5 Very excited for Djokovic to face whoever comes out of this one Prizmic beat him in Rome… Fonseca has never played him… will be great either way

Fonseca finally gets his first break points of the match early in the 3rd and takes advantage of them! Leads 3-1 now, Joao. BAD miss from Prizmic to give away the game, and the crowd erupts
