The album is being produced by the Global Music Academy director and SOAS Concert Series’ Georgie Pope along with her husband, the writer and academic Somnath Batabyal. Join us as Sohini Alam, Sahana Bajpaie, Samantak Sinha and Oliver Weeks take to the stage.

It features the voices of Sahana Bajpaie, Samantak Sinha and Sohini Alam as well as beautiful instrumentation from around the world – dotara, daf, oud, guitar, banjo and more.

First up on tomorrow and not to be missed will be the album launch of Magpie Robin's Songbook. The Doyel Pakhir Ganer Katha or ‘Robin-Magpie’s Songbook’ is an album of music featuring songs from the Bangladeshi War of Independence of 1971. @KhadirMeer

On October 15th, we will be Remembering Partition. Join us for a free one-day festival here at SOAS to celebrate South Asian culture through film, music, food and dance, 75 years after the Partition of the Subcontinent.

This week promises to be full of colour🌈 and good vibrations 🎶, as we start making music together on the first week of SOAS Music Workshops! Here are this week's courses: 🎵Chinese Percussion 🎵Circlesinging 🎵West African Kora 🎵Roma Music 🎵Classical Indian Singing

Samer Rashed has performed in concerts and festivals across Europe and the Arabic-speaking world. Most notably, he has performed at the Proms Festival in London, Lebanon’s Beiteddine Art with Marcel Khalife, and at the World Jazz Festival in Germany.

You can expect a rich musical journey as his high-energy pieces are juxtaposed by the more tranquil tales from the album, all expertly composed to include an original Arabic twist to the unique genre of gypsy jazz. How exciting!
