This is why this is unpaid analysis….getting a 11 on 10 advantage for 78 minutes is now a bad thing Jfc
Michael@ChatCityTactics

HT #AllForCITY thoughts: - red card has changed the game for the worse for CITY - a central midfield and a backline created with the aim of not moving the ball quickly cannot suddenly start doing so when required - it’s either gonna take a moment of likely Hartel magic, or Damet will have to relinquish some control and add some risk.

Can we stop wishing @MLS top talent skip out to Europe every time an unproven kid is considered the "next best thing"? At some point, shouldn't we want a domestic league that: A- Solidifies local support B- Improves USMNT pool C- Isn't Europe's bit$h D- Avoids 9th inning talent ?

THE YOUTH SYSTEM IS NOT THE PROBLEM. Anyone telling you that either doesn’t know what they’re talking about or they’re protecting MLS. The USMNT will never become an elite national team as long as MLS continues spending millions on young foreign players instead of giving meaningful minutes to young Americans. Every MLS club has talented academy players who sign Homegrown deals. Fans get excited, then those players spend the next 3–4 years sitting on the bench or in MLS NEXT Pro. By the time they’re 21 or 22, the window to become truly world-class is gone. There’s a reason the only young Americans who consistently break through in MLS are outside backs and, occasionally, center backs. Those are the positions clubs typically don’t spend big money on. Meanwhile, they invest millions in midfielders and forwards, making it nearly impossible for a 17-, 18-, or 19-year-old American to play over a 20-year-old South American the club paid a $10 million transfer fee and a multi-million-dollar salary to. Until that changes, you can overhaul the youth system all you want it won’t matter. If young Americans aren’t actually playing meaningful first-team minutes during their most important development years, the pipeline will never consistently produce world-class players

U.S. Soccer is exploring a complete overhaul of the youth soccer system amid renewed scrutiny of pay-to-play following the USMNT's Round of 16 World Cup exit — with the goal of making the game more accessible and affordable 🇺🇸⚽️ U.S. Soccer COO Dan Helfrich: “We are not seeking to make the current system more affordable. We’re trying to create a new system that then we make highly affordable. It’s a really important distinction.” Arsène Wenger, speaking alongside Helfrich at U.S. Soccer’s headquarters outside Atlanta: “From outside, I felt that people from a poor background had no access to the game. That is quite a big part of the population that usually in Europe, the best football players come from poor backgrounds. We want maybe a job to do as well to make it possible and available for everybody and after to be consistent because it’s not a short-term fix.” The discussion centered on how the federation can continue growing the sport after what U.S. Soccer CEO JT Batson called an “incredibly successful” World Cup that “has fundamentally changed the trajectory of the sport in the United States.”

HERE WE GO @stlCITYsc FANS! Tom Bogert reporting we have found our DP in Carlo Holse, a left footed attacking midfielder. A $6m fee would make him the most expensive signing in the club's 4 yr history. Holse is 27 yrs old & had 10g/8a in 47 all comp games last season for Samsunspor in Turkiye, including 2g/5a in 10 Europa Conference League appearances. Holse has a €7m valuation on Transfermarkt. #AllForCITY

If you are the parent of a left footed soccer player, make him/her a center back. That is the golden unicorn in this country. You can completely play a different t way if you have a naturally left footed center back on your starting 11. Top request besides a goal scorer that I get from teams and coaches.

How many of you have grew up with, played with, played against, coached, coached against, or watched an MLS player from where you live or grew up? Odds are they were pretty damn good players right?
