We must not delude ourselves in this moment. Multiracial democracy in the United States is less than 60 years old. It has always been contested, often violently so. It has always been fragile. Since this nation's inception large swaths of white Americans -- including white women -- have claimed a belief in democracy while actually enforcing a white ethnocracy. In the face of shifting demographics where white Americans will lose their numeric majority, we see a growing embrace of autocracy to keep the "legitimate" rulers of this country in power. History teaches us that we are in a perilous moment.

California is ready to fight.   I just called an emergency special session to help bolster our legal resources and protect our state against any unlawful actions by the incoming Trump Administration. Whether it be our fundamental civil rights, reproductive freedom, or climate action -- we refuse to turn back the clock and allow our values and laws to be attacked. nytimes.com/2024/11/07/us/…

@POTUS Before you leave office, can you make Anti-Blackism and / or Negrophobia a federal hate crime? People have been getting texts saying report to slavery and we need protection ASAP!

Shirley Chisholm’s wisdom still rings true to this day. I am proud of VP @KamalaHarris who was -younger (ya’ll were upset about age 🤨) -smarter (he never wanted to debate her again) -kinder (he spews hate towards everyone) -looking out US (he’s looking out for HIM) But as I said many times on the trail, this election was more about us and what it is that we wanted for our future… and well PROJECT 2025 is loading…

they burned ballots in georgia, lost over 3000 mail in ballots and made bomb threats all day which led to make polls closing early and people having no where else to go to vote. if this isn’t voter suppression idk what the fuck is

I've watched politics for decades. I've seen PLENTY of Republican politicians with whom I've disagreed on many issues. Reagan, the Bushes, John McCain, Mitt Romney, and the list goes on and on. But it wasn't until the emergence of Donald trump have I believed that a politician was an existential threat to democracy. He's not a Republican, btw. He is MAGA. The difference is, MAGA is as extreme as any group we've seen. They talk about immigrants not as human beings, but as "vermin" who need to be hunted down, and rounded up, and deported. They don't even care if they are here legally or not. As long as they "look" as if they might be "illegal," they want them out. We've all seen movements based on the hatred and removal of other human beings. We often say "never again" when we talk about them. Now is the time for all decent Americans who care about freedom & democracy to stand up and reject trump and trumpism. NOVEMBER 5TH.
