The reason why we were crying for Martin Ødegaard to return was that there are some qualities you can't take away from him.
We all watched him yesterday. He doesn't rest or stand. As a attacking midfielder tracking back to fix the backline for balls.
He is the builder for the team, always received and built the ball from the center back. (a job supposed to be a DM's).
Running every part on the field directing movements. Remember he's been off injured since but when you have fully fit Odegaard, it's 75% winner assured or safe.
There's difference between him and Eze.

If Pedri plays for Arsenal, he’ll get the same criticism Ødegaard is getting too.
Our fans want a winger for a 10. He should be able to have the speed and shot power and quality of a Dembele loool.

@SodyHalliday @11adamR @ogheneyxle Rice passing to him is the obvious choice, especially since he’s the sole creative player in that midfield. Rice obviously indicated he could progress the ball. Are you trying to tell me our playmaker cannot receive a simple pass and turn? A simple left or right look would be ok

I think the worst part of that Sporting match was when the commentator said Odegaard gets the ball and does nothing with it. Just back passes. It was so sad to hear.

All good and apologies if I do come across defensive, I just get touchy when I'm misunderstood! But it's funny cos I actually agree with you on all of that regarding Odegaard. I saw someone in the comments say that Kyle Walker explained why Pep hates players taking the ball on the half-turn - that might simply explain why Odegaard doesn't attempt it - he's instructed not to.
But I think there are signs of Odegaard finding form and I also wanna say that I thought August to January this season (when fit) he looked great so I fully believe it's still in there!

I actually thought he did ok yesterday. But when I was getting mad post-Southampton and saying I won’t fall for him “buzzing around and looking busy” this was the kind of stuff I mean…

Arteta is literally easing him back into the first 11 and building his minutes up after being out for a while... I can't understand how anyone who actually watched the game would think any different

⚠️ MAJOR CONCERN FOR ARSENAL Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard was subbed off once again against Sporting CP yesterday in the Champions League. This makes it five times the Norwegian star has been substituted due to injuries this season. He has also set an unwanted record as the first player in Premier League history to be subbed off before half-time in three consecutive starts, all this because of the reoccurrence injuries. This has become a major concern for Arsenal, raising questions about whether the captain can stay fit… especially when he’s needed most during the title run-in. If these injury problems continue, the club may consider moving on from their captain in the summer.

@JamesB_afc Okay, maybe I was harsh. My bad. But there’s very few times Ødegaard “looks busy” without trying to do something meaningful. I’m sure if you watch the game back you’ll see what he was trying to do there. Tactically he’s Arteta’s rep on the pitch. That’s why he’s captain. 🤷🏽♂️

I’m not hypersensitive you just debate with such a negative angle on my opinions, like why would I change my thoughts for Twitter? BTW I completely agree about Odegaard yesterday, he did ok. But that clip there I felt captures a lot of what does frustrate me with him
I do appreciate you tuning in cos without you and others I’d have no channel or career in this, but I don’t take kindly to accusations that I’m swayed by social media or being told to do better

You find it’s people with low football IQ that criticize Ødegaard unjustly.
He is Arteta’s system. Tactically and even technically, I don’t think there’s anyone that interprets the game as well as him.
That’s why if he’s fit he’ll start and that’s why he’s captain. 🤷🏽♂️
