Across the United States, child labor violations have risen fivefold in a decade. Yet instead of strengthening protections, Republican and Democrat lawmakers, the faithful servants of American capital, are systematically erasing them. redphoenix.news/2026/05/u-s-ch…

@A_Post8 Ok, thats true, but Allah and Elohim share a common ancestor (proto-semetic *ʔil), and then diverged. Thats a distinctly different process from borrowing.

These policy shifts [for SSI recipients] represent a continuation of the use of the law as a tool to discipline poverty, undermine collective care, and isolate disabled people from the very networks that sustain life. redphoenix.news/2026/05/nlg-di…

Pretty funny when people say “sharia law” when شريعة itself just means law. Even my uni says it, weirdly.

Like, compare this with normal parts of AAVE being adopted at a broader scale as "gen z slang". Those words arent necessarily "sacred", but its still a racist practice.

All my arab moots are making very good points about the framing of wallah as "sacred", but i think the main point is the distinction between wallah as a part of the primary lexicon and wallah as slang. Wallah doesnt have to be sacred for its use as slang go be disrespectful

this boils down to "we shouldn't use the lord's name in vain" arabs DO casually say wallahi the same way christians say amen and jesus christ casually we do not have to adapt our language to satisfy ultra religious people
