One of the biggest myths about S&M is assuming care and intensity are opposites. In healthy dynamics, the care is often what makes the intensity possible. A good sadist usually isn’t emotionally detached from the other person at all. If anything they’re paying obsessive attention. Breathing, tension, eye contact, body language, emotional drift, overwhelm, recovery. Without care, it’s just pain. With care, intensity can become trust, catharsis, surrender, release, play, connection. That distinction matters.
