For the first time, I listed a bunch of slow rugged NFTs on @YawwwNFT with 0% royalty. It may or may not sell but I'm glad I'm not contributing anymore to the team's pockets for doing nothing for the past few months.

Wife (w): why do all these people follow you? Me (m): they want to be rich and content w: but you always say being content needs to come first m: not always. First one needs the basics, and most need the excess of material wealth and money first to realise there is more in life. Largest part of crypto people have the basics though, otherwise they would not be doing crypto. w: so are more people coming to visit this summer? m: looks like it, but you are going to help w: me? how? m: you just show them the garden and sit with them w: sit, how, i don´t even know what to say or do? m: exactly, you are not even aware of your power, that is why it is so enormous w: you keep saying that m: because it is true w: so what do i do? m: just sit with them, listen, and expand that feeling of happiness you feel around you around them w: that is so easy...i always feel that m: exactly, and that is so so rare w: why? m: how many people you know are always content? w: nobody really, you seem to be, but it took you 15 years of meditation to get there you told me m: and how can you, a girl from a slum, since the day she was born basically always be content and calm? w: i was just born like that m: exactly, your whole family is a mess, and you were born somehow with this enormous calm power, incredibly mature soul, has to do with previous lives probably. w: previous lives are real? m: they are, not the ´i´,or ´you´ lives again, but your energy pattern dissolved back in the void and moves into a new ´vehicle´ if you still carry a lot of emotional charge. Tibetan book of the dead, you read right? w: yes, but forgot what it says m: ok, so just sit with guests in the garden w: ok, what if they ask me things, about crypto or inner work? m: just ignore it, just smile and sit with them w: do i tell them about pudgy penguins? m: no, you can skip that w: so will couples come visit too? m: yes, few couples are really at peace w: true, but we are, we never argue or fight m: because it was destiny we met w: destiny? m: destiny is when something feels so right intuitively, it could not have been any other way. Remember when we first met, what did you feel? w: the most powerful thing i have ever felt, like ´i need to be close to this boy´ m: same for me, and it was no chance that a girl from a slum, deeply at peace, met some westerner who was meditating there. Our energies are a perfect match w: so what do we teach couples? m: nothing, we sit with them, teach them some energy balancing, share happiness. nothing more. the energy practice for couples does most of the work if they are serious w: ok, sounds stupid, but we are really always going to be together, i just know it m: me too, it is so simple, the only thing to do is gratitude w: love you m: love you too

Influencer @BryceHall made multiple posts promoting a sketchy Solana presale for a meme coin called URF helping them raise ~2400 SOL ($450k). The team disappeared less than 24 hrs after launch and social media accounts have had zero activity since March 26. The URF team instead has been using the remaining presale funds to trade meme coins. 2Y8hZh5on4q9wyqXoNYC8oYPUVQMunrzqW8qDmxup4R8

we onboarded @BryceHall to degods & mog yesterday. here’s some of my takeaways before the episode comes out. celebrities get a bad rep in crypto - but in reality it often comes from bad advice which leads them to do weird promos and rugs. so where does one get good advice? how does one actually become a “native”? as hard as it might be to swallow, it’s probably not going to be from learning about consensus mechanisms. this is exactly what @banks, @notthreadguy & @leap_xyz are all uniquely talented at doing. making our industry cool & easy to understand - while keeping it 💯 bryce wants to participate and be a part of the ecosystem. hope we can help him transition from shilling uncle urf 💀 to being one of the boys. welcome to the community. probably nothing.

Everyone on CT now shilling you some bull market alpha and claim this is life changing. But here's the real life changing alpha from me: move to Dubai before you hit bull market gains. Dubai will literally change your tax life for the better. You might change your life during this bull run hitting the right investments. But those life change gains are much less life changing when you need to fork out 20%-50% in taxes. The real kick to the stomach though is more than just the financial costs of paying taxes on crypto gains. It’s the mental effort you expend dealing with those taxes. That constant worry, that low key drain on your metal space. Often you are forced into unoptimized market trades just to optimize your taxes. Then there is actually figuring out how to file said taxes properly. You pretty much need a Phd in accounting to actually figure out how to properly categorize and declare your degening in a way that is actually understandable to your local friendly tax agency. And if you get it wrong, you’ll be handed a pleasant asswhopping by the tax man in the form of hefty penalties. Want to avoid this hell and simplify your life so you don’t waste mental energy on things like taxes when you could instead be wasting it on better things, such as buying memecoins and NFT pictures of crypto dick butts instead. Then just figure out how to make the move to Dubai. Personal taxes won’t ever be a thing any more. And all that wasted energy you spend worrying about taxes can be spent on better things. Like... Losing your eth on all those many @Blast_L2 rugging apps that all your friendly, totally non-finally motivated CT influencers who relently shill their BLAST affiliate codes tell you are totally safe to invest into. At least in Dubai, you can degen your capital into nothingness without also having to pay taxes on your LOSSES as well. So Grail, how to move? The process of moving to Dubai is easy because the government in Dubai makes it easy: just form a company and use the company to apply for residency. It’s ~9k to 12k USD and takes < 30 days. Or apply for a freelancer visa which costs even less (~6k). Also very easy. There are plenty of local agencies that will do the entire process for you. At the end of the 2 week process, you just drop into Dubai and finalize the visa. Once you get the residency permit (called an Emirate ID), you are a bona fida UAE resident. You can live here, work here, lose all your money here, and probably end up getting divorced here. But the point is, you can do all of this completely tax free. Now some of you will insist you should pay your fair share to you government and all. Be that good citizen powering the engine of the economy. Well, if you are happy paying 20%-50% taxes to western governments that engage in profligate spending, funding wars that have nothing to do with you, and feeding and housing refugees in hotels on your time, then go right ahead and your country will thank you. I’m sure your local fatcat politician will greatly thank you for that sweet charter flight jet and drunken bender in mikanose on YOUR dime. For me though, and an ever growing number, there is an alternative to this. Just move to a country (dubai or elsewhere) where you don’t have to pay.

During my first bull run, I went from $1k to $130k. Then I fell to $8k. After that, I made a set of rules that I use daily. From $8k, I grew to $300k+ in the bear market. Knowing these 15 rules meant 1000X earlier 🧵👇

Today was a tough day. We set ourselves very high standards when it comes to wallet performance and reliability, and today we haven’t been able to meet them. Solflare had degraded performance for roughly 30% of our users - and that is 30% too many. Solflare has to work for every single user. There’s no other way to put it than that we made mistakes and we genuinely apologize for it. We constantly communicated throughout the day as we believe that contact and transparency ultimately build trust, even when things go wrong. This is also why we are going to share this post-mortem, to transparently explain the good, the bad and the ugly of today’s launch. Hopefully, other Solana builders can learn from our mistakes and not repeat them. The good As the $JUP airdrop approached, we prepared for a surge in traffic, focusing on three main areas: Infrastructure Stability and Scalability, Data Redundancy and Accuracy, and User Success and Satisfaction. Infrastructure Stability, Scalability, and Redundancy: We significantly upgraded the scalability of our infrastructure and network. This included enhancing the redundancy of our Jupiter Quote APIs, IPFS gateways, and RPCs, as well as optimizing how we display token data and fetch prices from various sources. To further fortify our system, we implemented DDoS guard mitigation and introduced new mechanisms to boost the success rate of transaction inclusion. We maintained separate services to ensure that essential processes like simulations and transaction relaying remained operational. Our multi-service architecture, with dedicated resources for key functions such as monitoring, simulations, pricing, and staking, contributed to the overall resilience of our wallet services. While this approach provided stability, we did encounter challenges with our portfolio component. However, we were able to keep critical services functional, mitigating the impact of these disruptions. User Success: We introduced timely push notifications for eligible wallets and implemented in-app banners specifically for eligible wallets. These banners directly linked users to the claim site, completely eliminating the risk of users falling prey to scams. This proactive approach in communication and user guidance played a critical role in safeguarding our users and enhancing their experience during the $JUP airdrop. Optimized Transaction Inclusion: We tackled network congestion issues head-on by creating a system that efficiently processes transactions through a pipeline to multiple RPCs and special validators, prioritizing Solflare user transactions. We also leveraged Jito bundles and Jito tips to maximize transaction landings. This approach led to a sixfold (!) increase in transaction inclusion compared to previous periods of high congestion, ensuring rapid transaction confirmation and reliability. (this probably deserves a post for itself) “...But… Why did my portfolio stop working?...” The bad During the $JUP airdrop, we encountered key challenges: scaling too quickly stressed our cloud resources in unexpected ways, and we underestimated the impact of off-chain data on our cache and portfolio service. Let’s dive into these issues in our post-mortem. As the $JUP airdrop approached, we anticipated high traffic and accordingly scaled up our services on Google Cloud Platform. Our setup includes Cloud Run for API instances and Memorystore for Redis cache, which helps in rapid scaling and deployment. Under normal conditions, we operate with 300-500 Cloud Run instances. However, for the airdrop event, we prepared a minimum of 3000 and up to 5000 instances. We made this decision based on our database (DB) and Redis connection pool, which was only at 20% capacity, believing it would be sufficient to handle the increased load. However, just before the airdrop, our services began experiencing a massive surge in traffic, with around 35,000 requests per second. This influx pushed our Redis usage and DB connections dangerously close to their limits. The spike was primarily due to the increased traffic combined with our underestimation of the load from fetching off-chain data for portfolio displays. In an attempt to mitigate this, we created a new CloudRun revision without a DB connection, but this inadvertently worsened the situation. Unknown to us at the time, creating a new CloudRun revision triggered health checks on all the specified minimum instances. This meant that instead of having 3000 instances, we effectively doubled that number, overwhelming our DB and Redis. Our existing instances slowed down, and new ones couldn't start due to this overload. In response, we increased our DB capacity and attempted to upgrade Redis, which faced delays. Meanwhile, our existing instances were faltering, and new ones weren't starting, creating a deadlock where we couldn't deploy new code that would utilize a different Redis setup. To resolve the immediate issue, we shifted our portfolio endpoint to our failover service with a separate Redis, which restored functionality. Once our original Redis was finally upgraded, we reverted our traffic back to the main CloudRun and all functionality was restored. After a few failed attempts to get in contact with GCP Support, we successfully got in touch with assistance from the Solana team. Together, we began dissecting the issue. While we had a grasp on what had occurred, the specifics of why we couldn't provision new CloudRun revisions were unclear. GCP Support provided thorough explanations about their health check processes, the creation and management of instances, and the overall life cycle of deploying on CloudRun, which clarified our understanding of the incident. Now we understand why we used up our connection pool and how to scale up in the future. We are still waiting on their Memorystore Redis support to get some information on why Redis scaling was unresponsive and gave us so much trouble. To ensure that we don't face similar challenges in the future, our focus is on reducing dependency on limited infrastructure resources. We're planning to move database and Redis writes to queued batched jobs, which will help us better manage and control the usage of our caches. Additionally, we're working on making our portfolio service independent of off-chain data and establishing a dedicated cache specifically for such data, used only when necessary, such as for loading NFTs. We're also exploring alternative methods for fetching content from the IPFS gateway to reduce reliance on a single point of access. Moreover, gaining a deeper understanding of the workings of GCP services is a priority for us, ensuring we're better equipped to handle high-demand scenarios and prevent similar occurrences in the future. Today was undoubtedly one of Solflare’s most stressful days. We feel extreme responsibility when it comes to serving our user base and can’t stand when things don’t work as they should. We can promise to put even more work in than before to deliver the Solana wallet experience you deserve. Our whole team is now more motivated than ever and we hope that we’ll write just positive recaps in the future! Congrats to Jupiter and @weremeow on a successful launch, inspiring us to be more transparent when it comes to our mistakes and making the Jupiter launch a part of Solana history 🪐
