@_the_hunger @dave43law @robprogressive I also disliked Ms Truss’s efforts, because I use my brain (I suggest you start to do the same) I didn’t imply anything about low tax growing economies. As for “studies”, maybe you should review how Socialist gov’ts lose elections in quick order by following this exact script.

44.7% of the U.K population do not contribute any income tax  Yet the top 0.1% earners pay 10% of the total taxes The top 1% pay over 30% of the tax The top 10% pay 69% of the total tax revenue  £150k earner pays £53,460 in income tax but a £25,000 earner pays £2,486 You need 21x 25k earners to match the tax revenue of ONE 150k earner  So no, we should NOT tax the rich more. They are ALREADY taxed more No wonder all the millionaires are leaving the U.K.  Oh, and how is this ‘fair’?

@dave43law @robprogressive High earners don’t work for the state Dave. Just because they can afford less “avocado on toast and the 4th holiday” as you put it is irrelevant. We should aim to grow the economy so that UK Ltd can benefit from multiple viable income streams. You are thus missing the point.

@robprogressive Answer your own question £150k earner left with £97k per year or £8k per month £25k earner left with £22.5k or £1900 per month Tax high earners an extra £10 k a year and you ,ight have to cut down on the avacado toast and the 4th holiday each year

Ten years ago, a small business owner taking a £100k dividend could pay as little as £2,500 in personal tax if structured efficiently under the old dividend tax system. Today in 2025, they’re paying £21,250. Next year, under Labour’s new budget, they’ll pay over £23,000. And that’s after the company has already paid 25% corporation tax on the profits used to fund that dividend. In a decade, we’ve gone from a manageable tax bill to one where the state takes nearly a quarter of the dividend on top of corporation tax before the owner sees a penny. That’s a nearly 800% increase in personal tax on the same £100k. All for the crime of running a business in Britain. - This is why entrepreneurship is dying here. - This is why people aren’t scaling. - This is why founders are taking their companies and jobs abroad. If you want growth, stop treating business owners like a bottomless ATM. Britain needs entrepreneurs, not policies that punish them for succeeding.

@jdpoc @MikeWFrost John I think you need to consider the fact the government is suggesting the valuation office review hundred of thousands of properties. The cost of a single valuation with a valuer on a property over £2m in the south is £2,500 (fact). The costs becomes exorbitant, and quickly.

If you are wondering how to afford the #MansionTax on your £2m property, the answer is easy. People who own these properties have quoted the answer to the very poor for years. So, I quote it back to them. - “Buy fewer lattes.” - “Cancel the Netflix.” - “Go skiing a bit less.”

@borpin @MattGubba Risk Brian, I urge you to take some time to think about what’s involved with running a business (including the benefits of businesses succeeding to the economy as a whole). If you can’t see or appreciate what’s involved then you can’t really join the discussion.

@MattGubba Everyone should pay the same tax to get the same disposable income. Why should you have paid less tax than an employee for the same disposable income?

@woodchippings1 @RobBeetweets @MerrynSW The difference (I think) though is that the USA taxes every property rather than those above a threshold. The issue in the UK would therefore be the legal and practical administration of dispute over what is and isn’t worth £2m at a given time.

@RobBeetweets @MerrynSW I kinda agree, but then other countries including USA have property taxes based on notional valuations, so it must be possible.

Reeves plan to hit houses over £2m with surcharge. Who decides what's worth £2m? Esp in today's collapsing London market??And as prices change to price in the new liability. Who mediates every challenge? There's a reason no one has been idiot enough to do this before.

@BTC_CHARTS_ @KevinSvenson_ Yep, you were right. It was distribution. I did agree it was looking like distribution but I really thought we hadn’t had the UTAD at the time. I personally sold when btc was 98k, as I perceived that area to confirm the SOW. If you sold sooner, that’s good going.

@100glitterstars Honest question with no malice intended, but are you a net (tax) contributer to the state? [If you have 2 kids your household will need to be paying about £68k annually]

Many signs point to the crypto bull market having ended last December/January. - BTC/GOLD topped in December. - BTC/SPX only went marginally higher than its January top. - Nearly all alt/BTC pairs topped in December/January. HYPE and BNB being notable outliers. ETH/BTC, after its summer bull run, went only marginally higher than its December level. Bulls will point to ever increasing ETF and stablecoin inflows, but they've had no net effect on prices YTD.
