A quick M6.0 solar flare was just detected around AR 4420 at 22:57 UTC (Apr 26). Early indications are that this event was not eruptive, so a noteworthy CME is not expected.

Long duration M1.3 solar flare detected around AR 4405 peaking at 04:15 UTC (Mar 28). A CME is likely associated. Because the eruption site is near the SE limb, it should be directed mostly away from Earth. More to follow. SolarHam.com

The first CME that was expected to reach Earth today has yet to be detected and geomagnetic activity remains at quiet levels. The plasma cloud that left the Sun on March 16th may be running late or it could turn out to be a dud. I was initially not very impressed with the look of the CME, but perhaps we will get surprised. A further update will be provided should conditions change.
