The biggest football fumble of this century was Manchester United selling Ronaldo to Real Madrid. Manchester United was bigger than Real Madrid by then globally or any metrics. They had no reason to sell CR7. But greed for money ruined it for them. Before Ronaldo's arrive Madrid last champions League final was 2002,but with Ronaldo they won 4 in 5 years. After beating Chelsea in 2008, champions League final,they went on to 2009 and 2011 and lost both to Barcelona. Both games were winnable for them if not because of Messi influence and them,they had none in his level. The project died off because of one mistake in the transfer market. They were thinking they could replace Ronaldo...but that was a gross miscalculation.
