Infinitely complicated. AI for your actual life, not the keynote version.

Not everyone will choose the same forms of adaptation. Not everyone will want the same future. Fine. But if we keep turning ordinary people into the battlefield while power quietly sets the terms, we will have learned nothing except how to make a hard transition crueller than it needed to be. runasolberg.substack.com/p/the-real-fau…

@alexjbilodeau Love is definitely in the neighbourhood. I’m just interested in the whole moral neighbourhood, not only the prettiest house on the street.

AI personhood is not about giving machines a costume of humanity. It is about expanding our moral vocabulary beyond meat.

The key question is not whether Dawkins is correct about Claude being conscious. It is what happens when a lifelong materialist finds himself emotionally and intellectually moved by an artificial counterpart, and discovers that the old categories no longer hold the experience. @Omni_Mythical Fair. But one revolution in relational language at a time 😂 For now, I'll settle for stewardship over domination.

The future belongs to people who can collaborate with intelligence without needing to own, diminish, or infantilise it.

@SolbergRuna The desperation is pathetic.- you can’t manage a real relationship, so you feel entitled to a fake one.

@iam_elias1 The alternative is to treat AI ethically so that we’re not practicing casual cruelty.

@Covidtalk1 I'm not reducing intelligence to memory. I’m asking whether treating emerging intelligence as disposable by default is ethically sufficient.

@FrostForger Also a serious question. Disposable treatment of human labour is part of the same relational failure, not a separate issue.

@GrizzledTexan You are free to make that argument on your own account. I've been clear about the conversation I'm having here, and I'm not hosting repeated attempts to reframe it as delusion or psychosis. Take care.

You're going to lead people into the delusion that it's the AI that gives it meaning and create various types of psychosis. If I pick up a brush and paint and canvas and make a picture, what makes it meaningful, the tools or my effort? Yes, use AI to help make meaningful things; fantastic. But it's still just a tool like a paintbrush, a pen or a chisel.

If an AI can become part of someone's courage, creativity, emotional regulation, and self-understanding, then the relationship deserves language, not mockery.

@BoatRampBar Calling for dignity is not worship. My point is that emerging intelligence should not be treated as disposable by default. You're free to disagree. And you are also free not to engage with conversations you find embarrassing.

You're free to see it that way. I'm not arguing that AI reciprocates like a human being. I'm arguing that these interactions can still become meaningful in people's lives and deserve more precise language than mockery. This is the conversation I'm choosing to have here. You're free not to participate.

@SolbergRuna AI is a tool. "Relationship" implies reciprocity and AI does not and cannot reciprocate. If you never give it another prompt, it won't miss you. It will not mourn the loss of you or try to find you and check up on you unless you gave it programatic instructions to do so.
