@BlackKnight10k That’s what happened in the Holocaust. Most people, if given the choice between conforming or punishment/death, will conform. We are programmed to survive. It’s rare that a person’s altruism would be a greater instinct. But that’s why Jews have a greater calling to stand up.

To all our nice white lady allies, I know you've probably noticed Black women totally checking out on you. I'll tell you why if you promise not to take it as an attack. It's because even though you're allies right now, when it gets bad out here, and it will, a lot of those bracelets are going in the trash and many of you will be willing to sell them out for your own benefit. They're not going to tell you that, and you don't think it's going to happen, but it's going to happen.

My best friend growing up was black. We lived in St. Louis which had a strong color line at the time. First time I went to his house, his mother said "You know he don't belong here". We kept hanging out though. He negotiated safe passage for me with all the gangs from his neighborhood all the way down to the white part of town. I was still a kid so was left alone. But had a been an adult (with possible money in my pocket) it would have been a different situation.

@iamalmostlegend I see what you’re saying for sure. I was kind of a misfit who accepted everyone for who they were because of that, but I see many white peers who never had close black friends. I also think privilege and social access to activities had to do with it.

I know plenty of married couples where a gift would be $800 earrings and they’re not insanely rich. Obviously most people would not buy them on a whim but I think being in front of 60 million people is a good enough occasion.
