Today, I wrote to @SenPresScutari requesting revisions to the NJDEP's proposed REAL rules. My message is simple: we shouldn't need to choose between climate action and affordability, but these rules, as currently drafted, force that choice.   They should be rewritten to: 1) prioritize affordable housing development, not discourage it; 2) reflect that development in dense, historic urban communities is different from shore communities; 3) incorporate existing flood prevention measures already in place.   With these changes, we'll achieve climate-resilient development, and I'm eager to work with everyone toward that goal. hudsoncountyview.com/solomon-asks-s…

We’re asking for $150M in transitional aid — a bridge, not a bailout. Jersey City sends $1.3 billion to this state every year. We’re asking for a fraction of that back, for a limited time, to protect an asset every New Jerseyan depends on.

Last night, the FBI and NYPD raided a residence in Hoboken, disrupting a planned firebombing targeting a Palestinian-American activist in her own home. Political violence has no place in our community. Every person has the right to speak and advocate for what they believe in without fearing for their life. That right is not negotiable. We are grateful this plot was stopped before anyone was harmed. Jersey City will always stand against violent extremism and for the right of every person to make their voice heard.
