We play/run RPGs not TTRPGs. Computer/console versions came late to the party and should add a C when they talk about their inferior version.

@trumplicans2024 Just because someone can make a right on red does not mean they HAVE to take a right on red. But please keep passing on the right by driving on the shoulder and not coming to a complete stop to make the turn. I love watching the State Troopers nail your asses.

No D&D campaign today should be over 2 years long. If you go longer than that I don't want advice on how you did it. I want to give you advice on being aware that no one at your table is changing, growing or being challenged. This isn't the '80s.
Harmony Ginger@Gingerblast

Campaign longevity is the only reasonable measure If you run a 3 month long campaign that meets regularly, you're starting to win At 1 year, you won 10 years and I want to know everything you did to master the craft so that I can put your wisdom to use

@jsgaribay I sort of agree with this, but that is only because I don't think any sane and rational human should be wasting their time with D&D when there are so many other systems out there.

@elvenmaidinn When Destiny 1 came out my Halo buds and I all jumped over to it and got completely engrossed in the game, running weekly Nightmare Strikes and Raids. It wasn't long after the release of Destiny 2 that our group started breaking up.

I remember when Destiny 1 came out, it was something different. Promise of the ever expanding game, it has the potential to be something spectacular. And then it was killed because they preferred to add 2 at the end... I played shit tons of Destiny 1, I quit Destiny 2 after Prologue and never looked back.
Destiny 2@DestinyTheGame

Read the full blog at bung.ie/d2_may_21_2026 For almost twelve years, we have had the joy and honor to explore the Destiny universe with you all. Through all the ups and downs, surprises and triumphs, building Destiny alongside our players has been a monumental privilege. While our love for Destiny 2 has not changed, it has become clear that after The Final Shape, we have reached the time for our shared worlds, and Destiny, to live beyond Destiny 2. As our focus turns towards a new beginning for Bungie, we will begin work incubating our next games. To that end, on June 9, 2026, we will release the final live-service content update for Destiny 2 to begin that new journey as a studio. Though active development may be concluding, we will ensure that Destiny 2 remains playable, just as the original Destiny is today. Many changes in this final update will aim to ensure that Destiny 2 is a welcoming place for players to return to. We’re proud of Destiny 2, the places it took us, and the legacy it has created. Because of you all, our universe is vast, built on years of shared stories, adventures, and victories. From the Cosmodrome to the Pale Heart to the Lawless Frontier, we have forged life-long memories and friendships with you all. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who made that journey with us. From the deepest part of our hearts, thank you, and we'll see you in the stars.

I just read about “diceless” TTRPG”s? Not to ruin anyone’s fun, but how does this even work? This is so counterintuitive to everything role playing games are to me. Anyone play this way?

@frothyfriar Depends on the system. For example, It would damned stupid to roll stats before picking race in a game like Palladium or Warhammer since your race determines what you roll.

So, the Wednesday night game wants a post apoc one shot or shortie campaign. Of course, Gamma World is at the top of the list, but do any of you gang have a different suggestion?

@Nerdcognito Those numbers/bloat has been a thing for 26 years now, so is that really the modern design or just the design of D&D? Detailed/crunchy systems only suffer from the limitations you are talking about when they use a strict class/level system like D&D.

Last night while chatting with The RPGPundit, RD talked about the bloat in modern TTRPG design. Want some real numbers? Pathfinder 2E: 31 classes. 50 Ancestries. 240 Archetypes. The more specific a system gets and the closer you zoom in, the more limiting its options.

@Nerdcognito No. Video games and RPGs should not be compatible (I assume you mean mechanically). What do you mean by diluting?

Chatter online regarding Classic Gaming and the video-gamification of the hobby. Should TRRPGs and video game RPGs be compatible since modern design leans heavily into that culture? Is video game influence diluting Classic and OSR design?

BREAKING: Poland just told the EU to go to hell. President Nawrocki vetoed the Digital Services Act. "The state is supposed to guarantee freedom. Not restrict it." The EU spent years building the most sophisticated censorship machine in the Western world. One man. One veto. Destroyed. Think about what this law actually was. > Governments deciding what you can post. > Governments deciding what you can share. > Governments deciding what is true. > Governments deciding what you are allowed to think. Poland said no. While Germany complied. While France complied. While the entire EU rolled over. Poland vetoed it. - The same Poland that buys more gold than the ECB. - The same Poland that surpassed the European Central Bank in reserves. - The same Poland that has been right about everything. Is now the last wall standing between European citizens and state-controlled speech. The EU doesn't want free citizens. It wants manageable ones. Poland just reminded them what freedom actually looks like. Every European should be paying attention.

The police took my content, so the police became the only content I have of the trip.😂 I’m 100% certain this situation was not handled correctly by the yellow vest baton holders. Police aren’t allowed to seize property like they did. Section 19 of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 (PACE) says these police would’ve needed a search warrant or consent from me. Under Section 22(4) of PACE, police cannot retain your physical property for evidence if taking a photograph or making a digital copy would be sufficient for the investigation. “An officer cannot pop open your camera on the sidewalk and confiscate the memory card under this power.” (That’s exactly what they did) I was pushed by pro Palestine guys and then had my property seized, what the actual bloody hell! 😂 They don’t even follow or know their own rules. What kind of police force is this? It’s a free for all for them…
