2/3 @SomaliaFGC welcomes the inclusion of UN projects in the 2022 budget. The funds are primarily for projects & thus provide limited scope for increased salaries or institutional expansion. FGC previously provided a guidance note to development partners on using country systems.

Thread 1/3 Today's @SomaliaFGC discussed ongoing fiscal reforms and the success of bringing USD 16 million of UN aid to #FGS #Somalia institutions on-budget and on-treasury in accordance with the 2019 PFM Act as part the cabinet approved 2022 budget.

Today I chaired the @SomaliaFGC meeting & we continued the crucial discussions on further strengthening public financial management in #Somalia. The ongoing financial reforms in our country are underpinned by a commitment to transparency, accountability & good governance.

11/ Two major priorities that will require particular attention from the incoming administration are the continuation of economic and financial reforms and commitment to due process in procurement and concessions. #Somalia

10/ Given the multiple financial governance challenges exacerbated by the protracted transition period, the incoming administration reached an immediate agreement with the IMF on the terms of the continuing ECF program. This will enable the resumption of budget support funding.

1/ Despite challenges implementation of some elements of the FGS’s economic reform program continued. @oagsomalia completed a statutory audit of the FGS’s 2020 financial statements, compliance audits of 24 FGS institutions, & two special audits. Read more: bit.ly/3wZtnI6
