@History__Speaks @sharghzadeh @DrewPavlou So as to you and Sharghzadeh, what do you think the odds are that the wrestler hacked the officer to pieces? It’s conceivably true, I suppose. The officer did presumably get hacked. But I haven’t really seen any good evidence that this wrestler did it. A tortured confession

Drew, the following may be hard for you to understand, so I'm happy to explain at length, but two points are important: 1) I believe the death penalty is immoral in all cases. Given that, the details are irrelevant. Whether America has robust due process and only executes the guilty is unimportant to me. You style yourself as a liberal concerned with human rights. What is your stance on the death penalty? 2) It's ironic that you compared this Iranian man to the man who stabbed Iryna Zarutska, because the Iranian man who was executed was on CCTV, stabbing another man to death. It then follows that you would support his execution. Somehow I feel like if the killer of Iryna was executed swiftly, you would cheer it on as a win for Western civilization or whatever. You know nothing about Iran, my country, while you cheer on the war that could very well destroy it. I have watched you go from a well-meaning liberal to someone who defends the worst anti-civilizational forces in the West. I'm sad to say that we have no common ground or ability to dialogue anymore. I can only come to that conclusion because you replied with a screenshot instead of a repost. If you have no interest in dialogue, then neither do I.
Drew Pavlou 🇦🇺🇺🇸🇺🇦🇹🇼@DrewPavlou

The difference here is that the US legal system is actually fair. What a joke to pretend there is even the slightest shred of moral equivalence between the Iranian regime executing a random teenage protester vs the US carrying out the death penalty against the bloke who stabbed Iryna Zarutska to death on video After decades of legal warfare by left wing activists the average death penalty recipient in the US is somebody who raped and murdered someone before eating them, they get like 20 legal appeals, there is no equivalence whatsoever.

@AndyHermanNFL “Netted out” to a useful player by the playoffs who should be the next season as well—if health holds. That’s probably to be frank the biggest issue with both the Banks and Hobbs signings. Neither had been super durable prior to signing.

@Someguy2221111 And overall it netted out to a not great season. And certainly nowhere near the contract.

A year ago, the Packers hit free agency in two ways, two big splashes on Aaron Banks & Nate Hobbs, two value signings in Mecole Hardman & Isaiah Simmons. I think its fair to say the Packers made a massive mistake & ultimately failed in free agency: youtube.com/watch?v=NhYJDQ…

@AndyHermanNFL A waste of money, but not a massive one on a calculated gamble. Again, as I said, the bigger problem wasn’t that they missed on Hobbs. The problem was that they didn’t invest anything else of importance last offseason in finding a starting boundary.

@AndyHermanNFL The claim that Banks “more than struggled” I take as misleading as well, in part based on your own reporting. He was bad when new to the team and injured early. He was pretty good once recovered.

@AndyHermanNFL Hardman and Simmons were nothing signings. Hobbs was a bust but not paid a ton—the real cost if any was opportunity cost in free agency and the draft last offseason for a starting boundary.

@Peter_Bukowski Why wouldn’t they? As you imply, those should come cheap. Morgan will get paid to start, almost certainly, but not necessarily all that much either.

Will be interesting to see how the Packers handle extensions for the 2024 class when it comes time. None of the best guys are premium positions, but Jordan Morgan could turn into one. Are they going to shell out nice contracts for a safety, a nickel CB, and a non-Mike LB?

@StegNCheese OL isn’t much of a “need” either. They just need the rostered players to stay healthy and develop.

@Someguy2221111 @philoshua @mehdirhasan @ggreenwald Saying this, because ironically it was Tucker Carlson who was forcing him to say stuff about Churchill Martyr Made was himself reluctant to say: later he backed off of it, and admitted it was just David Irving's view. And he doesn't believe it.

The @mehdirhasan/@ggreenwald hostility is one of the weirder online beefs to me. They both have created valuable independent media ventures, their actual political views overlap probably ~95%, they both favor interviewing and debating across ideological divides, etc.
Mehdi Hasan@mehdirhasan

People like Glenn Greenwald & other MAGA partisans are the reason we’re in this war because they told us Trump was antiwar & now pretend they had nothing to do with it. (On a side note, people like Greenwald & Fetterman’s brains are obviously broken or maybe they’re just high.)

@Anarchist_1418 @philoshua @mehdirhasan @ggreenwald It’s not especially subtle when Tucker Carlson brings Martyr Made on air over and over again to try to mainstream anti-Semitism. That said, even though I do care, an anti-Semite’s arguments against Israel’s wars can still be on point, even if ill-motivated. That’s basic shit.

@MargieSunn53478 @wil_da_beast630 Are you aware of Nozick’s thought experiment about Wilt Chamberlain? It has some force to it, although I disagree with all of Nozick’s pertinent conclusions. But that’s the mechanism not only for Hasan, but guys you might like Fuentes or Tucker (I think they’re all disgraces).

@Anarchist_1418 @philoshua @mehdirhasan @ggreenwald MAGA movement was all about that, though. I’m totally with you that the right-wing “influencer” media mostly consists of grifters. For that reason, I think it’s good to avoid giving the impression that they’re actually serious people.

@Anarchist_1418 @philoshua @mehdirhasan @ggreenwald I think it’s plausible that Carlson’s opposition to Israel’s wars is driven by anti-Semitism (see, e.g., Martyr Made), but no I don’t think the those positions are were about marketability. I do think Carlson’s original “drift” to a sort of leadsrship of the supposed
