Every Thomas Sunday I recall how St. Cyril of Jerusalem said that Christ the 2nd Adam was pierced in His side to show that the curse was broken for women, who came from the side of the 1st Adam. Maybe all these complementarians should reach for Christ's side & stop hating women.

@jmibullfrog If it's not fireants, it seems weird to try to destroy ants anyway. If it IS fireants, you kind of have to go in willing to kill them three ways, and maybe wear specialized equipment. One of the things I love about Michigan is that the fireants aren't here! Big relief.

I bought The Hidden History of Women's Ordination: Female Clergy in the Medieval West by Gary Macy, and my husband finished it in one day. It blows Martimort out of the water and shows that in fact women WERE ordained to several orders up until around 1200. 5*/5* must read

There's no such thing as a *holy* tradition that promotes eugenics or misogyny. The eugenics movement has slid into church circles through "trad" trophy wife nonsense, complementarian [which is also Arian heretical] nonsense, disability stigma, & physiognomy conspiracies.

In the meantime, I post once or twice a week on substack, same handle as here.

I'll try to stop by here more than once/month. So many of you people are lovely conversation partners, and I am grateful to rejoice and learn with you.

Our brick and mortar bookshop, Park End Books, made it through its first year! This November we have set up a gluten-free Little Free Pantry for community members who need it. We have started hosting book clubs and have a weekly saints' lives preschool class. Glory to God!

I have a collection of St. Nicholas teeshirts, and this year I added a "Santifa" shirt. I'm very much leaning into being against fascism like the saints.

I have been listening to The Life of a Showgirl and Everybody Scream. They're healing and cathartic in different ways, but I love both albums.

@GeekJamesXtn Glory to God! Yes! It's the prototype icon by my godmother, iconographer Elina Pelikan. When we save up enough, we're planning to have it painted on board with gold border. The Joy of All Who Sorrow is an ancient pattern that includes the people being served in a ministry.

I get emotional whenever I read about Saint Olympia and Saint John Chrysostom. Chrysostom was truly for the girls.
