A great morning with Sir Idris Elba, celebrating 50 years of the National Youth Music Theatre. 🎭 The King popped in to join students, alongside Sir Idris, taking part in improvisation workshops, before watching a performance from @NYMTuk students. The charity offers high quality musical theatre opportunities to young people from all backgrounds. With support from The @KingsTrust, Sir Idris attended the National Youth Music Theatre, aged 18. 🎶

From the skies to one of the world’s most remote islands. ✈️ On 9 May 2026, an Atlas A400M flew from Ascension Island to Tristan da Cunha, delivering paratroopers and vital medical supplies to support personnel and residents on the island. Six paratroopers from 16 Air Assault Brigade jumped from the aircraft, including tandem jumps with a nurse and doctor to provide medical support on the ground. Alongside the team, the A400M also carried out airdrops of essential medical supplies.

@Trash583722 Qualified in what? Courses you can complete in 6 weeks? One of the “facilitators” has scars all over her arms from self harm. It’s literally the mental illness Olympics. The blind truly leading the blind. And most of the participants are autistic. #VirginIsland

939 snares removed. Hundreds of animals saved from being maimed or killed. That's the impact your donations are having in Tsavo, funding our teams of rangers who not only patrol tens of thousands of kilometres on the lookout for illegal activities, but also fight fires, rescue orphaned animals and track injured wildlife. You might not be walking the trails with them, but it is your support that keeps our boots on the ground. Discover more in our latest report: sheldrickwildlifetrust.org/news/anti-poac…

Folk say Shakespeare is hard to understand, but it isn’t when it is delivered like this by Ian McKellen. Amazing how the language flows and stops to flow again, immediately comprehensible even to the modern ear. Both of them geniuses in their own way.

In less than a decade, the number of calves mothered by our ex-orphans has doubled (and then some), with at least 91 babies having now been born into a wild life. These precious lives are a testament to the ripple effect of every orphan rescue, giving life to generations of elephants. This miniscule miracle Sia (a mini me of their mother Sagala) was born on 19 January! You can read about all the known wild-born calves at sheldrickwildlifetrust.org/orphans/calves

In the wild, grooming is an important bonding ritual. Little Notty lost her natal family, but the loving instinct is still strong. Now, she bestows it upon her best friend, Tytan, an orphan black rhino. This is a zebra’s love language! Discover how their unique friendship came to be: swt.bio/tytan

Raising an orphaned black rhino isn't a quick process – it's a commitment spanning 8-10 years from rescue to reintegration. From vulnerable toddlers like Tytan requiring night feeds, to adolescents like Apollo learning independence at Rhino Base, to success stories like Solio raising wild calves – every stage requires expert care, substantial resources, and unwavering dedication. We've successfully raised 19 black rhinos because we commit for the long haul. With only 6,000 black rhinos remaining in the wild, every individual matters. Every orphan rescued is a chance for wild populations to recover. Become a part of rhino reintegration success by adopting an orphan in our care: sheldrickwildlifetrust.org/r/rhinos

Have you met Nala? Our newest Ithumba granddaughter made her debut on 22nd November, arriving underfoot of her mother, ex-orphan Nasalot and accompanied by her older brothers, eight-year-old Nusu and four-year-old Noah, two elephants who have deserved reputations as hopeless rascals. The Keepers described Nala as "very strong, healthy, and energetic" – she'll need to be to keep up with those two! Only time will tell if she gives her mother a well-earned break or joins her brothers in their mischievous antics. Read what happened when we first met Nala (hint, she wasn't the only baby we met that day!): sheldrickwildlifetrust.org/news/updates/b…

A rumble of reassurance and a protective, draped trunk is the older orphans equivalent of telling new arrivals "you're safe now." Their soothing presence is just as important to a rescued baby’s recovery as our Keepers, creating a strong emotional support system that carries vulnerable elephants through their darkest hours, so they can one day go on to thrive back in the wild when grown. Find out how you can become a part of our support system for orphaned elephants from wherever you live through our adoption programme: sheldrickwildlifetrust.org/orphans

Our elephant family tree just keeps growing! Ex-orphan Mbirikani, on the left, recently embarked on the next chapter of her remarkable journey that spans rescue, reintegration and now, motherhood. The proud new mum turned up with her precious baby Mica in tow earlier this month (alongside fellow ex-orphan Mweya (right) and her calves Mwitu and Mwangaza). Both families roam across Tsavo National Park and the surrounding ranches but still remember our Voi Unit – the place where they grew up – as a haven of safety. Now, they’re bringing their babies back 'home', showing them where to find fresh water during an unforgiving dry season; vital knowledge for this next generation. Read about the magical moment we first met tiny Mica: sheldrickwildlifetrust.org/news/updates/m…
