This was the message that went out to folks when Instagram went down yesterday. I know there are people who are still kind on Twitter- the better angels of our nature.

I have never experienced & witnessed more hatefulness being spewed than on social media. I have never seen more caring white people attacking Black folks to protect Black folks. We may not like it but we are sisters and brothers with different ideas of how to move forward.

As we get closer to the final day, 11/2, of one of the most consequential elections and ballot decisions in Minneapolis ever, my prayer is that we can passionately disagree when someone has a different opinion than our own and still honor our shared humanity & interconnection.

@SondraSamuels This is happening under your chief. He needs to put reforms into place. He needs to discipline cops. He needs to supervise and stop the chaos. He’s had time. Hasn’t done it. Your way isn’t working by your own admission. Under your mayor. We all deserve cops who show up.

BOTH/AND- We can reform policing, increase public health supports, AND have a fully functioning police dept. with a Chief. Vote ‘NO’ to ballot ? #2. Without a plan, and a new council, now is not the time to remove the department. Here’s what happened tonight in my neighborhood.

We all use The murder of George Floyd as a catalyst for political change so that more George Floyd’s are not murdered by police and for me- not murdered by anyone- I call that politicizing to protect Black folks.

And knowing that there will be too many more killings of Black children and men if we get rid of our police department/Chief with NO alternative plan- what I am doing is called LOVE.
