It's our first semester trying out our new theory curriculum and I've never had more students tell me "I love theory" and "theory is my favorite class."

One of my biggest pet peeves as an educational content creator is the idea that we're supposed to make learning fun. Learning is already fun. Your job is to avoid making it boring.

I find it fascinating that current hip-hop has a genre convention that makes it totally acceptable for the artist to casually use their own name in the lyrics as it if was "son", "girl", "you", etc. In other genres, that would feel really weird.

@Luci_Alessio To be clearer about this: If someone wrote a song that sounds vaguely classical, but it was in the Romantic or Baroque era, saying "classical" works, especially when talking to someone who isn't a professional music theorist or historian. They'll get what you mean.

@Luci_Alessio Using "classical" to mean "the classical period" and "classical-style music" are both totally OK.

Do any of you have unpopular classical music opinions? Mine is that Mahler is virtually un-listenable
