@UCLPsychiatry @DeNPRU_QM @KITE_UHN We spoke to a huge range of care home residents, family members, staff and clinicians and are so grateful for their valuable contributions to our study.

These factors can be addressed in future policies and interventions to build and maintain social connection in LTC homes.
Our SONNET scale, which is in final development will help these to be measured!
Great work from Hannah Chapman @UCLPsychiatry @DeNPRU_QM @KITE_UHN

Our main qualitative study has just been published - we identified barriers and facilitators to social connection for LTC residents which can be addressed in care policies, staff selection and training.

This study complements our review of the psychometric properties of social connection measures here:
alz-journals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.10…
And clarifies the need for new valid measure assessing specific domains of social connection...
More to come from @SonnetStudy @UCLPsychiatry @KITE_UHN
English

We found that existing measures usually assess more than one aspect of social connection. These aspects cover several interlinked observed or experienced domains, so the measures assess a mix of social connection concepts.

Great work from Neha and Hannah in our @SonnetStudy team. And with @EncoaRteam @atsommerlad @HannahM_ORourke @Gill_Livingston @profcorazzini @EPLEDgroup @KITE_UHN @UCLPsychiatry (and other team members not on twitter)

We used COSMIN review methods to appraise them and found that no current measures can be recommended for use based on existing evidence.
A reliable and valid measure of social connection is needed - watch this space for more @SonnetStudy work!
