I am very proud to know this amazing woman @HWistrich with whom I fought for justice for some of the Rochdale victims who had been repeatedly raped and then repeatedly failed, blamed, criminalised and abandoned by @gmpolice I met Harriet at an International Woman’s Day event in 2015. She already knew who I was and the fight I was involved in to expose the corruption I’d seen, and she knew of the Rochdale case. I “stalked” and “harassed” her unashamedly until she agreed to take on the Rochdale cases and together we fought tooth and nail for about 5/6 years until we finally won the case against @gmpolice again using the Human Rights Act as was used in the Worboys case. Now with my charity @TMOFCharity we regularly work with @centreWJ in relation to the most complex new cases we handle where the survivors need expert legal help to fight their cases following on from our support. I consider Harriet one of the very best lawyers when it comes to these cases, and she is one of the few lawyers I know who will look “outside the box” to find a solution rather than focus on the problem. The Worboys case opened up new possibilities and many victims have benefitted due to her groundbreaking win in this case. Credit to the victims who never gave up, and to Harriet who found a way through a system which tried to stop them and deny them justice because of the horrific consequences of their treatment by police. Repeatedly!

Reform put this guy on the ballot paper in Sefton, did nothing to distance themselves from him during the campaign, only doing so when he won. He’ll pick up an allowance of about £11k for a year, paid for by taxpayers. The disdain with which Reform treat voters is a scandal.

This is a hard article to read, but I hope you'll do so. I've spent some time reporting on widespread rape and other sexual violence of Palestinian male and female prisoners by Israeli authorities, and the article is now published. The assault victims were warned not to give speak of what they endured -- they were sometimes told they would be killed or raped if they gave interviews -- but they found the courage to do so. One man described being raped three times in a single day in Israeli prison, the third time after he tried to protest. A young woman said the guards would come in at the beginning of each shift and strip her naked and abuse her. Another reported that she was shown photos of herself being raped and warned they would be released unless she cooperated with Israeli intelligence. Even three children who had been detained told me they had been sexually abused. Look, whatever our position on the Middle East, we should be able to agree on being anti-rape. Sexual assaults were horrific when Israeli women were targeted on Oct. 7, and they're equally horrific when Israeli authorities use them against Palestinians day after day after day. I think the failure to instantly & unequivocally condemn a Reform councillor’s previous alleged comment that Nigerians should be melted down to fill in potholes is a watershed moment for Reform, and one they’ll come to long regret.
