@MattWalshBlog I know you're a millennial so this is asking a lot, but try to toughen up a bit. Don't be so scared of dogs because a tiny fraction (far less than the humans you walk by every day) can turn violent. Irrational fear is a terrible thing, maybe talk to a psychiatrist.

@MattWalshBlog I'll post this again. Matt, your kids are more likely to kill a human being in their life than a pit bull is, by a factor of around 14. Take the ratio of total pit bulls in the US to deaths they cause, then do the same for people.

I don’t often do this but today I issued a public apology. I’m sorry to all of the pit bull owners that I’ve criticized over the years. I realize now that your reasons for owning these animals are valid. I was wrong. I’m sorry.

@MattWalshBlog Matt the bottom line is this, statistically your kids are more likely to kill another human being in their lifetime than a pit bull, by a factor of about 14. If you don't believe me, compare pitbull related deaths to the number of pitbulls total, and do the same for people.

I've listened to all of the arguments from the pit bull defenders and I've realized the error of my ways. I'm sorry. Pit bulls might be disproportionately dangerous and far more likely to kill or maim than almost any other breed, but why should that stop you from bringing them into the community? Yes they might try to eat your neighbor's child, but that's none of your neighbor's business. Sure there are plenty of other breeds that are much, much less likely to attack, and even if they do attack are much, much less likely to do any significant damage. But why shouldn't you skip over all of those significantly safer breeds and specifically choose the one that poses the greatest statistical risk to everyone around you, including your family and yourself? Sure pit bulls are genetically predisposed to aggression, and built to inflict maximum damage, but why should that have any impact on your decision to adopt one? Sure the risk you take by adopting a pit bull is also a risk that you are forcing everyone around you to take as well, but why should that matter to you? I see it all clearly now. It makes so much sense. Thank you all for your feedback.
