Reno the Rink Project Update 🏒🥌 Phase 1 of our Reno the Rink project has been completed with the successful installation of the replacement ice plant. Plans are being made for future phases to the project to further improve the arena, more information to come on that. 1/x

We are so grateful for the support for our facility from the community and now with this announcement, all three levels of government.

And in the next week or so we will switch the arena side over to the new plant. This is milestone that we all have been anticipating since we started this project. Thank you to everyone that has made this possible!

Drum roll please! 🥁👏🏼 The moment we’ve all been waiting for. We are excited to announce that after final inspection the new ice plant is up and running!! Good news curlers 🥌 — ice is currently being made!

Jennifer Tougas and Rey Delaquis from Intact were on hand at Guild Insurance to present a fantastic $2,500 donation toward the ice plant replacement project.  Thank you Intact for your great support!

Donations in support for our Ice Plant Replacement Project continue to roll in! We’re grateful to Pat/Elwood Shearer & Family for their donation of $5,000. The Shearer family have been supporters of our arena for many years. We appreciate the continued support! Thank you!!

Today is the last day to enter!!

A big thank you to our insurer partner Portage Mutual Insurance for their $10,000 donation to the Wawanesa ice plant project. Portage is a fantastic community supporter and we're proud to partner with them on this initiative.

Most of the work at the beginning will be inside the rink so you may not see a lot of activity outside until later in July and August. Thank you to everyone who has helped out on this project, we are excited to update you along the way!

The plan is to start the season with the new ice plant! As a precaution we’ll be leaving the current ice plant in place until the project is complete, that way if there are delays, we can start up on the old plant and cut-over to the replacement ice plant mid-season.

We couldn’t be more proud of the response to the ice plant replacement project and we are so happy to confirm the project is moving forward this summer. We’re expecting construction to start the week of June 27th, with the expected completion date of September 28th.

Meanwhile donations continue to be received from present and past community residents. We are grateful to add a number of additional names to our “Friends of the Rink” Donors list for the Ice Plant Replacement project.

Our Ice Plant Replacement Project continues to move forward!! The Committee is busy with contracts/planning/and prep work. Stay tuned for a separate update on construction progress and timeline for the project.
