Read this Fauci diary entry closely. Officials refused to admit the vaccine wasn’t stopping the spread because it might weaken the legal case for mandates. That is not science. It is a cover-up to justify coercion.

August 13, 2022: we cannot admit that the shots don't work because that would undermine our policy to force people to get them.

@CatboyRocketry @Mookafish Not once AI brings post scarcity. Thats what he is getting at. Then it just becomes about social, sex and discovery/learning. A startrek world.

@Mookafish You would still need money though and would need to work - for a very very long time if you truly lived 500 or 1000 years. The thought of that is just very depressing to me

I've seen a lot of people hating on Bryan for his quest to live as long as possible, saying he's not really "living". But, I would like to make a point in favour of what he is doing.
To live as long as possible, you must do things which make you healthy. When I have worked out and chosen to moderate what I put in my body, every experience I've ever had in those periods have been better. I am always happier, more confident, and more capable.
Sure, I wouldn't take it as far as him, but in order to live a good life, you have to give up some short term comfort to maintain your health, giving you long term comfort and increasing your longevity.
Anyone who takes actions to live longer may end up living a better life too because of the extra care they give to themselves.
Regardless of what people think, the research he's doing may one day help you live a longer, healthier and happier life, so give him some respect for that.
Bryan Johnson@bryan_johnson
been thinking things over and wonder if i’ve taken this whole longevity thing too far

@Z4chOnEarth @Mookafish So one say youll want to commit suicide? No one wants to die. You want to end suffering when when your body gets old and frail, which he is working to combat on scientific endevour that only someone as autistic as him could.
commit to. Hes awesome and it benefits science.
English

@Mookafish I think what he’s doing is amazing for people who may not want to live forever like he does, but longer.
When I saw parts of his documentary it made me quite uncomfortable and creeped me out a bit, but that’s just because I wouldn’t do what he’s doing.

@davearcher404 @PrecisionLabs0 Go live in Europe with that attitude

@PrecisionLabs0 Unnecessarily flying near birds AND spectators is pilot error. Flying in an airshow is pilot error. This is all unnecessary risk.

🚨One split-second decision separated this F-18 from disaster.
This Spanish Air Force EF-18 Hornet shocked hundreds of thousands of spectators at the Gijón Air Festival when it suddenly rolled hard toward the sea during a low-level pass.
It wasn't pilot error.
The pilot detected a flock of birds directly in the jet's flight path and immediately executed an evasive manoeuvre, avoiding a potentially catastrophic bird strike before safely recovering just above the water.
At airshow speeds and low altitude, there is almost no time to react. Moments like this are a reminder that skill, training, and split-second decision-making can make all the difference.
What was your first thought when you saw the jet roll toward the water?

America is not an all-star team. America is a country. With a native people. And a culture.
And this, not your hypothetical all-star team, is what needs to be safeguarded.
American is not special because it contains geniuses.
America is special because the behavior of the average, non-genius heritage American creates a civilization where progress is possible.
It is understandable for you to overvalue talent, because of everything you have built, and helped others to build.
But you could only have built it in America.
And that is not because of America's supply of geniuses. It because you can build here, without getting beaten to death with rocks for witchcraft. Without bribing eleventy-billion bureaucrats. Without being shut out of every opportunity because they have to be given to the Glorious Leader's third cousin. Without being killed by the preexisting elites simply so they can take your stuff.
Need I belabor the point, or do you get the idea?
Yes, Ayn Rand was directionally correct, but she didn't have the whole picture.
The Great Work is not built by the Great Man. It is built by the Great Team, led by the Great Man, in the Permissive Place.
Genius, even genius with drive, is helpless by itself. In all likelihood, the greatest mind in human history spent his life whacking at the dirt with a stick trying to make crops grow, and died at age 32 of a fever that could have been cured by five dollars and thirty-seven cents worth of antibiotics.
Because he did not live in the Permissive Place.
So, recruiting all-stars is not paramount. Because all-stars or geniuses, are not the bottleneck. Geniuses are everywhere. I know plenty of geniuses. Some of them are driving buses or coaching high school football.
The permissive building environment is the bottleneck.
When you try to make America into an all-star team, the inevitable result is you being required by law to kidnap and molest a seal. Because people are not generic, blank-slate talent-in-a-can. They bring their culture and values with them.
As well as all their relatives.
And yes, they will, in fact, vote for the left. Because cultural indoctrination trumps individual intelligence every damn time.
They will vote for President Mamdani, and so will their wife and their brother and their cousin and their dear old mama who barely speaks English.
They will believe the promises and they will vote for the takers.
So you can't afford to bring them here, because without America, there is no Mars.
Yes, I am fully aware that you wish to explain how I don't understand how difficult hiring is, how expensive payroll is, how urgent the need.
The problem is that everybody else wants to use that same excuse.
A basic rule of thumb for evaluating moral actions is the question "What would happen if everyone else did the thing I am doing right now?"
Except we don't have to ask that question. Because we are living the answer.
Elon Musk@elonmusk
This is essentially true. However, it is possible to filter for exceptional people from any country. The problem for the left is that exceptional people mostly won’t vote for them.
