Brandon brings more than two decades of experience navigating Georgia’s legislative and regulatory landscape, with a career spanning senior leadership roles in government relations, coalition building, and bipartisan advocacy. He currently serves as Vice President of State Government Affairs for the Southeast at the Motion Picture Association, representing leading film, television, and streaming studios, and has previously held leadership roles with the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, Georgia’s electric utilities, and Wellstar Health System. Widely respected under the Gold Dome, Brandon is known for building effective coalitions, as well as advocating for job creators, complex policy solutions, and delivering results across industries, from healthcare and energy to film and entertainment. With more than a decade of experience in government affairs, communications, and political strategy, Weston brings a deep understanding of the legislative process, local government, and a proven ability to drive results under the Gold Dome. Before joining The Southern Group, Weston served as Director of Communications and Legislative Affairs for Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King, where he helped advance major tort reform initiatives and led the agency’s external communications. He later represented clients across diverse industries as a lobbyist with Freeman Mathis Decisions. Weston’s career spans six Georgia legislative sessions and includes previous roles in the North Carolina House of Representatives and a Nashville-based public relations firm, experience that gives him a rare, multi-state perspective on policy, politics, and public engagement. We are proud to welcome Dante Handel to our growing team here at The Southern Group - Georgia! Dante brings a deep understanding of Georgia’s legislative and regulatory landscape, honed through years of hands-on experience in both state government and advocacy. He began his career working for Senator Chuck Hufstetler, staffing the Senate Finance Committee, and later joined the Georgia Department of Revenue’s Legislative Affairs team, where he tracked hundreds of bills spanning income tax, sales tax, property tax, and more. His work included the landmark marketplace facilitator bill addressing the taxability of digital sales. At DOR, Dante also contributed to communications, administrative hearings, and the monthly income tax credit report, showcasing his versatility and commitment to public service. Most recently, Dante served with the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG), advocating for all 159 counties on key revenue and finance issues, including HB 581 (2024), the statewide floating homestead exemption bill, and its follow-up, HB 92 (2025).
