Migrant who raped teen in North Wales after dodging deportation jailed for 17 years. Gift Oladele, a 24 year old Nigerian national born in Italy, dragged a 19-year-old woman into woodland in Wrexham and raped her. He told her: "This will teach you a lesson not to trust strangers." This was not his first offence. In 2022 he was jailed for two years for falsely imprisoning a woman in Manchester. The judge labelled him a "dangerous offender". After that sentence, the Home Office tried to deport him in January 2023. But Oladele appealed and won at the Asylum and Immigration Tribunal. The judge ruled that sending him to Nigeria would breach his Article 8 human rights (right to private and family life). Oladele claimed he'd never been to Nigeria and would face "insurmountable obstacles." The tribunal decided his "rehabilitation" and private life in the UK outweighed the strong public interest in deporting foreign criminals. So they let him stay. Less than two years later, he raped a teenager in North Wales. The Home Office now says it's "horrific" and promises tougher action. But you can't un-r*pe the woman. Close the Home Office, we cannot keep this up.

@cremieuxrecueil The downside is risk of starvation surely, which has been a selection pressure for the majority of history? Human evolution is a blend of cooperative and competitive (Right Handed vs Left Handed), so only having <0.1% of your people with the Hercules gene is ideal.

The final version of this study just went online. TL;DR: People with genetic variants that disrupt myostatin are naturally more muscular, less fat, and stronger, without apparent downsides.

A new study has just come out. It shows that people who naturally have lower myostatin levels due to myostatin-disrupting genetic variants are also... Healthier! They're taller, stronger, they have lower body fat percentages, and they generally look healthier!

@StefanMolyneux The majority of the world are undeveloped, low trust societies, that don't trust each other or other nations. They will vote majority red. Developed high trust societies cannot outvote them blue. If this were restricted to the West, sure vote blue. But not the whole world.

This is actually a test of basic empathy and intelligence. Most people in the world are too dumb or uninformed to understand probability or percentages. You are also including babies, toddlers, children and people with autism, learning disabilities, dementia and brain damage...

Whenever the native majority is attacked by some evil-doer, the ‘root causes’ are either ignored or deflected with pious blather. Whenever a minority is attacked by some evil-doer, the response is always an unhesitating moral crusade. This is an unjust double standard.
GB News@GBNEWS

'We need to get to the root causes of extremism and antisemitism.' Sir Keir Starmer responds to the terror incident in Golders Green earlier today. The Prime Minister says it is not an isolated incident, but part of a series of attacks on the Jewish community.

Imagine a 19-year-old scrolling TikTok. She watches a creator list five "signs you have undiagnosed anxiety." She recognizes three in herself. By the end of the week, she's describing herself as anxious to her friends. A month later, she's avoiding situations she used to handle fine. What went wrong? In a new paper by my PhD student Dasha Sandra, titled "Why mental health awareness can harm: Converging explanations for a societal problem", we argue that well-meaning mental health awareness can backfire, and we identify how. Four separate literatures (concept creep, nocebo effects, prevalence inflation, and illness self-labeling) have been circling the same problem from different angles. We show they converge on three mechanisms: 1.Awareness lowers the threshold for what counts as a disorder. 2. It trains people to scan their inner lives for symptoms and reinterpret normal distress as pathology. 3. Once someone adopts an illness identity, they behave in ways that confirm and deepen it. The evidence is wide. Learning that loneliness is harmful makes solitude feel worse. Learning that stress is harmful worsens well-being and performance. Awareness videos about fake conditions like "wind turbine syndrome" produce real headaches. Trigger warnings raise anticipatory anxiety without reducing distress. This does not mean awareness should stop. It means awareness can have unintended consequences, including manufacturing the suffering it tries to prevent. Inoculating people against these mechanisms works, and we already have evidence it does. Link to paper: michael-inzlicht.squarespace.com/s/The-psycholo…

A new study suggests consumption of ultra-processed foods reduces a person's focus and attention, even if the person generally consumes a good diet. As well as harmful chemicals and substances within UPFs, these effects could be caused by changes to the gut microbiome, which plays a vital role in brain health and function.

@KuroSekaiAnime "50% is a small requirement." In a high trust society, yes. In a low trust society, no. The history of persecution upon Africa, India, SE Asia, S. America, the Middle East etc would understandably make them distrusting of everyone else, particularly the west. They'll press red.

@Logo_Daedalus Do you actually believe most people would vote to potentially die if it's anonymous? Most wouldn't even vote blue if it meant they got a strong shock lmao. You're the one voting to kill more blue voters, if they're more morally advanced you're killing the righteous
