Sad news. Jerry Bostick, one of the greats of Apollo-era Mission Control has passed away. He was enormously helpful to our Mission Control film. A warm and generous soul and a great American. Love and blessings to his family and friends.

Have you heard the news that Texas' senators want to chop up NASA's retired space shuttle Discovery in order to move it from the Smithsonian to Houston? The lawmakers in question have, and are now crying foul to the Justice Department.

Rusty Schweickart turns 90 today. Selected in the 3rd NASA astronaut group (1963), he completed support roles in Gemini, flew as LMP on Apollo 9 (10 days) in 1969 (becoming the first Apollo astronaut to perform an EVA) & served as BUp Cdr Skylab 2 in 1973 before retiring in 1977.

A prototype of Skylab's ATM, the Thermal Systems Unit (ATM TSU), was flown from MSFC to MSC OTD in 1971. A programme of 14 tests, in MSC's Building 32 Space Environment Simulation Laboratory, through December, verified the thermal design before building the flight unit.
