Honestly a huge bummer because I have been in love with this game since launch. I guess I'll have to hope Bungie learn from this and change things in the future, or I'll be moving on to more enjoyable games here pretty soon

Think I'll only be playing on Cryo days from now on, the meager loot in the other maps isn't worth bringing in full purple to lose to RNG nor the headache of the stale PvP

Got a chance to play the "new MM" today. Feels no different and if anything PvP feels worse without the WSTR being viable. So many fights devolving to RNG knife brawls and nade spam.

@ParagonPE @Ziegler_Dev This is definitely part of it but IMO there’s something else going on. There’s just no way the amount of players playing Cryo decreased so much that I’m fighting full gold teams every game when the week before I’d be lucky to see one every 5 games

@Spaddyboi @Ziegler_Dev You are getting harder lobbies because lower skilled players are playing on Sponsored Dire Marsh. I've actually started using blue kit as my bare minimum and i've been extracting much more since the last patch. There is also less rats.

Matchmaking is a complex series of wires and circuits trying to connect players to give them the best time to match while also providing quality matches. In that complex nest of things we found a bug related to regional matchmaking that is affecting a very small set of players that is unintentionally putting them in matches they’re not supposed to be in. We’re prepping a fix to get in for Tuesday morning 4/21 PT to fix this. Thanks for helping us find this, we’ll work on smoothing it out.

@monkey2Ybanana @DrewskysChannel It’s a big benefit compared to being in a system with zero SBMM and potentially getting put up against high skill sweats. I am definitely on the side of high skill players here as the game has felt horribly unfun this past weekend. Just want no SBMM in my extraction shooter

@Spaddyboi @DrewskysChannel I don’t understand, how is it a benefit that casuals are put on an even playing field against themselves? They will have just as hard of a time going against people at their skill level as the top .1%ers are at their level.

I love and play Marathon more than most that I know, however this week has really burnt me out. Should things not improve Tuesday I feel I'm left with the painful decision to stop putting in as much playtime. I understand there is a bug that is contributing to this, however I fear that Level-Based Matchmaking in combination with the Free Kit Queue is resulting in what feels like incredibly small player pools. Whether its Cryo or Marsh, I'm constantly matchmaking names I know. Things are no longer unpredictable, there isn't any more excitement to the unknown. Queue times are long and drawn out. Some players queuing in with pre-made teams. I'm often faced with full end-game top teams repeatedly, regardless of if I'm loading in with Green reinforced shields for an eco run (I frequently use credits/armory builds), or a Gold loadout. I'm frequently running into familiar faces that b/c we can see its them (no streamer mode/anonymity), play differently or are all inclined to be friendly out of respect - I'm sure many players (myself included) play differently based on names they might see. This is dismantling my enjoyment of high highs and low lows, and hindering the gameplay loop for me. I'm someone who doesn't burn out of what I love - and I've been having such a phenomenal time with the community. However its hard not to get exhausted and worn out with this experience, especially with some folks skewing my words back at me about it.

Anyone who seriously believes what is happening in marathon is a "regional matchmaking bug" and not some form of skill based matchmaking, I have a bridge to sell you!

@DrewskysChannel In marathon, if you die, your gear is gone. I don’t really think it’s fair that I should be “punished” by playing good players because I am better at the game, while casuals benefit by playing each other. If you were struggling before the patch, it’s a skill issue. Get better

@DrewskysChannel Think I hard agree with this whole take. I can understand that the experience may be better for players that don’t play as much or are lower skill, but it’s an extraction shooter at the end of the day. This isn’t Valorant or COD, where losing a fight means I respawn and go again

@VinnySiXx @Ziegler_Dev Can't really see stats, just kinda guessing based on how I remember it. Today with my stack of IRLs (that are all multi thousand hour d2 players and good at PVP) we lost EVERY cryo raid to third parties and full gold teams. Probably not playing the game until the MM is fixed

@Ziegler_Dev CONTINUED: Before anyone says I'm bad or crying, maybe I am. Just haven't been having nearly as much fun as my extraction rate went from around 80% to 30% since the patch. Just want to enjoy the game and be able to not sweat my dick off every match

@Ziegler_Dev Hope this is related to the change in the overall skill of lobbies I've seen. Not sure what metrics the game is now using to matchmake that it wasn't using before but all maps are now unplayable if I want to run anything besides full purple kit. Wasn't like this before
